TIME FLIES WHEN YOU TRAVEL IN A TIME MACHINE!!!!

WOW...has it really been 17 years since I officially embarked upon this chow history archiving project? It began in 2006 under the title of WORLDCHOW, then quickly transitioned in the following year to CHOWTALES ARCHIVE, as the need for a more organized and larger website became apparent.
I bumped into this old Worldchow banner in my memories and just can't believe I've been at it for this long..... and still have a lifetime collection of boxes and albums FULL of content to post.
Thank you all for traveling with me in this amazing time machine. Your support means the world to me!!!❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️

As members of the Chow Chow Club Inc. it is our goal and responsibility to promote and protect the Chow Chow breed as defined in the AKC Chow Chow Standard.

CCCI By-laws SECTION 4
Purpose. The purpose of the Club shall be:

To define and publish a description of the Chow Chow as the standard of the breed, as approved by the American Kennel Club, as the only standard of excellence by which Chow Chows shall be judged and to urge members and breeders to accept this standard; to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Chow Chows to the standard of the breed and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection;
The AKC Chow Chow standard clearly defines the acceptable colors of our breed:

Color: Clear colored, solid or solid with lighter shadings in the ruff, tail and featherings.

There are five colors in the Chow: red (light golden to deep mahogany), black, blue, cinnamon (light fawn to deep cinnamon) and cream. Acceptable colors to be judged on an equal basis.

The Chow Chow is an ancient breed that has successfully endured the challenges of entrepreneurial efforts to change its appearance. We must continue to educate our fanciers and future breeders about the threat of compromised pedigrees and the introduction of new health issues as is being seen in other breeds as French Bulldogs. The CCCI has developed articles, posters and flyers that are available to you upon request ([email protected] ). Please help us by sharing this Information with your friends and associates as they learn about the wonderful characteristics and unique qualities of the chow chow.

This excellent compilation below of America’s top foundation strains of Chows were part of an article in the December 1967 finale issue of THE AMERICAN CHOW CHOW magazine under the editorial reign of Georgia King. The article is for the most part, written by Capt. Will Judy, the author of the 1933 book (and still considered the chow bible by breed historians) THE CHOW CHOW.

These hand full of strong producers below, had their own foundation in England by way of original Chinese stock, and are the backbone of pretty much all Chows produced today.

Take a look at your pedigrees and deconstruct them back far enough and you will see a lot of familiar names in these photos and family trees featured.

With blue chows coming back into vogue again in today’s breeding programs, I found the last section regarding the blue foundation stock fascinating. Enjoy studying these 5 information-packed pages of pedigrees and photos!
