Today is the day to celebrate the Environment, the ideal opportunity to highlight urgent issues and promote global action in favour of sustainability. This year‘s theme is “Accelerating land restoration and resilience to drought and desertification“, reflecting the critical need to restore degraded ecosystems.

Desertification and land degradation affects millions of people around the world, jeopardising food security, livelihoods and biodiversity. Drought, which is becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change, exacerbates these problems, making it imperative to adopt effective and immediate measures.

World Environment Day 2024 invites governments, communities and individuals to unite in favour of concrete actions that accelerate land restoration and promote resilience to the harsh conditions of drought and desertification. By restoring our ecosystems, we are investing in a sustainable future, strengthening the planet‘s ability to regenerate itself and ensuring better living conditions for present and future generations. 💦 🌱 🌎 🌞

Fun has no limits, nor does it need to.
Every day and every occasion is good for a little playtime.

Playing in the street is great, but it‘s not always possible, so it‘s important to keep in mind a few games you can do at home with your furry friend.
By playing we strengthen bonds and provide them with physical and mental stimulation. Here are some ideas for fun games to play when they‘re at home:

Fetch: A classic game that most dogs love. Using a toy or a ball offers physical exercise, but also stimulates our dogs‘ natural instinct to search.
Trick training: teaching a few new tricks, such as sit, lie down, paw, roll over, etc. We should use positive reinforcement to encourage and reward the desired behaviours, (our treats are a good option for these moments :)

Obstacle course: set up a simple obstacle course using household objects such as chairs, boxes and cushions and train our dogs to run it. This helps our dogs‘ coordination and agility.

Treasure hunt: hide objects, treats or toys around the house and encourage our dogs to find them. This is great for stimulating your dog‘s sense of smell and providing a mental challenge (Naturea treats are also ideal for this game).

Food enrichment: use interactive food toys, such as food puzzles or a Kong filled with treats, to stimulate their brain and provide a fun and rewarding activity.

Massage session: set aside time to stroke and massage them. Not only is it relaxing for our friends, it also strengthens the bond between owners and their dogs.

We must adapt the games to our dogs‘ abilities, interests and limitations, and we must supervise the activities to ensure their safety.
The most important thing is to enjoy quality time together. 🐶 ❤ 🤗

Today we celebrate International Play Day. 😃
It‘s a day to remember that this is not just an activity for children, but should also be part of our daily lives, especially with our furry friends.
Playing with our dogs and cats not only strengthens our bond with them, but also increases their physical and mental well-being.

For dogs, it‘s an excellent opportunity to exercise and burn off energy, stay actively healthy and mentally alert. For cats, it‘s a natural way to express their hunting instincts and explore their surroundings. 🐶 ❤ 😋 🐱

Rich in fibre, vitamins and antioxidants, it‘s low in calories and fat, making it an excellent choice for animals that need to control their weight or have food sensitivities.

The fibre we find in pumpkins helps regulate the digestive system, promoting intestinal health.
In addition, pumpkin is also an excellent source of essential nutrients, such as vitamins A, C and E, which contribute to the health of our best friends‘ skin, coat and immune system. 🐶🐱❤😋

10 tips for training your best friend.
Training is important for strengthening the bond with our dogs. Here are 10 tips for training time.

1. Start young: train your dog as early as possible, meaning, when he is still a puppy. This will help establish desirable behaviours from an early age.
2. Be consistent: establish clear rules and be consistent with commands and expectations. Dogs respond well to routine and predictability.
3. Use positive reinforcement: reward desired behaviour with praise, treats or toys. Positive reinforcement is an effective way of encouraging a dog to repeat good behaviour. Naturea treats and biscuits are excellent allies here.
4. Be patient: this type of training requires time and patience. The results are not immediate and we must be prepared to repeatedly correct and reinforce behaviours.
5. Be clear and concise: Use simple and consistent commands. Avoid confusing the dog with long or varied commands.
6. Train in short intervals: dogs have a limited attention span, so training sessions should be short and fun to avoid boredom and frustration.
7 Avoid punishments: instead of punishments, choose to redirect unwanted behaviour or ignore it. Punishments can cause fear and anxiety in the dog.
8. Socialise: expose our dog to different environments, people and animals from an early age to make him more sociable and confident.
9. Training in various situations: practising commands in different environments and situations to help you put what you‘ve learnt into practice.
10. Be a calm and confident leader: dogs respond best to owners who are calm, consistent and confident. Establish yourself as the leader of the pack in a gentle but firm way.

To summarise, we must remember that training is a continuous journey. We must be willing to adjust the different approaches as necessary, and take the time to strengthen the bond with our furry friends.

Having a new member of the family is a big responsibility, and having a dog or cat requires a lot of dedication and care, so when you‘re thinking of adopting a new friend, there are a few things you should bear in mind.

Research the breed: before choosing, it‘s important to get to know a few breeds to find the one that best suits your lifestyle, personality and home environment. Factors such as size, activity level, grooming needs and temperament should all be taken into account.

Preparing the home: this preparation should include a safe and comfortable space, a bed, toys, food and water bowls. We must also ensure that the environment is free of dangerous or toxic objects.

Adequate food: adequate, quality food is essential for the life and well-being of your new friend, so it should be chosen according to the age, size and any special needs of your dog or cat.

Regular exercise: Physical exercise should be part of your friend‘s routine, especially if it‘s a dog. We should reserve some of our time for walks, games and physical activity. This should be appropriate for your friend‘s breed, age and weight.

Training and socialising: we should start training them from an early age, teaching them basic commands, the rules of coexistence and obedience skills. We should also socialise them with other people, animals and different environments.

Health care: we must keep up to date with vaccinations, deworming and veterinary appointments. We should always be on the lookout for any changes in behaviour or signs of health problems.

Love and patience: Love and patience are fundamental to building a strong and healthy bond with our new friend. We must therefore dedicate some time to interacting, playing and establishing relationships of trust and mutual respect.

Bringing a dog or cat into the family is always a very special moment. With love, dedication and care we can enjoy a long and happy life together. 🐱 🐶 ❤ 🤗

Cats are masters of non-verbal communication and often express their feelings and intentions through subtle movements of their tails and whiskers.
These signals are an essential part of feline body language and allow them to communicate effectively with other cats and even humans.

Tails:
- Tail held high and erect: this usually indicates that the cat is confident, happy and friendly. It‘s a sign of welcome.
- Tail low or between the legs: indicates that the cat is insecure, anxious or afraid. If the tail is between the legs, it may indicate submission or a state of alertness.
- Tail twitching: indicates excitement or agitation. This can happen when the cat is getting ready to play or hunt.
- Bushy tail: a bushy tail is usually a sign of aggression or irritation. The cat may be feeling threatened and ready to defend itself.

Whiskers:
- Whiskers forward: this indicates that the cat is curious or interested in something. They may be investigating a new object or looking closely at something.
- Whiskers backwards: a sign that they are feeling threatened or uncomfortable. It can happen in stressful situations or when the cat is defensive.
- Whiskers to the side: this may indicate that the cat is relaxed and comfortable.
- Whiskers to the side: this may indicate that the cat is relaxed and comfortable. It may be in a quiet and serene moment.

When the walk ends, it‘s time to inspect our furry friends. They need to be free of fleas and ticks. It‘s very common at this time of year, especially in rural and woodland areas, for some uninvited friends to hitchhike on our dogs and come home with them.
We have to be careful with these parasites because they carry bacteria that can be passed on to the dogs or to us. The ideal is to remove them as quickly as possible.

We start by putting on gloves and taking advantage of the time when our friend is calm and relaxed.
The tick must come out in one piece, so use a suitable tool, tweezers or a comb.
At the end of pulling, we should check that it has been completely removed.
The next step is to get rid of the tick; it‘s important to do this after it‘s no longer alive.

Finally, we should clean and wash the bite area thoroughly.

If you have any doubts or concerns, consult your vet - there‘s no-one better to help you in these situations. 🐶 ❤ 🐱
