If I don't treat horses, I like to take pictures.

I am happy about the first one since I took it with an old analog camera where you have to get the moment.

The Portuguese School of Equestrian Art is a must-visit if you come to Lisbon.

In the first episode of my new Cheiron.Vet-Podcast, I talked to Professor Emanuela Dalla Costa, DVM from the University in Milano.
Professor Dalla Costa is an expert in horse behaviour and welfare.
She did groundbreaking research with her colleagues from Milano and the German horse clinic Pferdeklinik Havelland / Havelland Equine Hospital on recognising pain in a horse by analyzing the horse's facial expression.
At the 10th anniversary of her first publication on this subject, we talked about the research and its impact on improving the welfare of horses.

I am delighted and honoured to announce that I am invited to speak about the benefits of in-hand work alongside Master Luis Valença Equestrian Art and Sofia Valença.
It will be an advanced training for Portuguese horse trainers.
Since I will give my presentation in English, we decided to open it to the public.
I will discuss the advantages of classic in-hand work for horses of all equestrian disciplines. My aim will be to give a holistic picture from the standpoint of biomechanics, osteopathy, and Western and Eastern medicine.
Master Luis Valenca and his daughter Sofia Valenca will give a practical demonstration of the actual work with the horse.
The event will take place on the 12th of November -

Sombrero.
An outstanding evening celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Equestre. The Classic riding schools from France, Portugal and Austria were present to show their art together. It‘s a unique feeling for a horse geek that I am to tag all these riding schools in one picture - simply because they are indeed present in one arena. Sadly the could not be tagged. More pictures to come.
