Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!! I want to talk to you today about PAIN!! It can strike anydog anytime... I have injured my neck, I don't know how, I could have twisted while playing, I could have turned at a strange angle, but whatever it was... I'm in PAIN. I'm not into dramatics, but I can let my owner know that I have PAIN. I did yelp a few times when I moved, so I just lay down on the spot, I stayed close to her and couldn't settle because I just couldn't get comfortable. My veterinarian said I have to rest and only to get the seriously strong pain medication as an SOS, this is because when us dogs don't feel pain or discomfort we think we're fine and then we really can do something stupid and cause more problems in the affected area. So my friends I'm on bed rest, supplements, physiotherapy and the occasional pain medication. Paws crossed I can get back to my swimming soon 🐾🐾 Have a pain-free day.

Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!!! Yesterday I invited my friends Brisa, the Australian Cattle Dog and Izzie, the gorgeous American Bully to come and help in the filming. They were absolutely Awesome, both of them were super well behaved, focused on what needed to be done and did it. They were being filmed with 4 cameras running and didn't bat an eyelid. They have been transformed, when I first met them they would not have been able to handle the novel experience of being on a film set. But they have been training with my owner at Awesome Dogs and their owners have put a lot of time and effort into doing their homework and developing these amazing dogs. Thank you to the fantastic owners of my friends, you guys are awesome.

Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!!! I have been filming, filming, filming this week.... And oh my goodness gracious me is it hard work. I was enjoying my snooze and the next minute Mr Clapperboard man, (That's what I call him!) is in my face with his Clapper. "Silence on the set" I say ... I had to give my friend "The Look" I want as few "Takes" as possible, and Action" ... "Cut" ... "That's a Wrap" .... "We've Got it in the Can" I had absolutely no idea what language they were speaking at the beginning of the week, but I'm getting the gist of it now. I know I will get yummy treats after "Action" and after "Cut" I get to do my bits again... but my favorite is "That's a Wrap" because then I get to have some freetime and have a swim and retire to my nice comfy bed. So by association, repetition and consistency I have begun to understand these phases. Now this is exactly what happens in dog training. You hear or see or even smell a cue/word/ movement made by your owners or the smell of food and you offer a certain behaviour which you have associated due to repetition of the action. For example if everytime the fridge door is opened you smell it and come running and are given a piece of cheese, by repetition and consistently getting the same outcome you will quickly learn that when someone opens the fridge door cheese is going to be delivered. Please learn something useful today be it a lie quietly amongst the chaos or to walk through a door calmly. Remember association, repetition and consistency.

Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!!! Swimming, swimming, swimming..... we love swimming 😍😍😍 But it wasn't always like this, infact I would avoid even the smallest of puddles!! My friend Nicki would find something really important to do on the other side of the field when it was her turn to swim. And my other friend Nala was just totally uninspired to get into the water. But our owners have worked with us very kindly and through encouragement and definitely some bribery, they have created monsters.... we are all crazy about swimming 😂 Not only is it a great way for us to work out, but it's also a great confidence building exercise and it's FUN. Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!!! In my house we have to be very flexible in the brain, because you just never know what will happen next. We have a puppy staying with us. Oh My Dog he's very energetic 😃 He met all of us dogs one at a time in a very calm and relaxed way. He's now learning not to jump into Zsa's face as she doesn't like it, he's learning to stay off my bed and how to interact with big dogs like Jag and little dogs like Pip and even older dogs like Fig. So much for a little puppy to learn. Your owners need to build their own levels of patience, because the simple task of having a toilet break may take a long long time as the puppy first absorbs and investigates the environment. Then just as he's about to go a neighbour walks past and insists on chatting to him because he's uber cute .... 💩 is forgotten for another 10 minutes 🙈 Patience and Consistency are required. Get your owners to take the new puppy or dog to the same place and then standstill and be as boring as possible until you get the job done. They can put it on cue and definitely deliver rewards after the event to encourage the dogs to repeat the behaviour next time. It took this puppy 1 hour and 15 minutes to go the first time (I went to bed and left my owner outside) but today it took him a few seconds to get the job done.

Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!! What a turnaround 😁 My owner is super proud of me. A while back I would not have gone near water, be it a puddle or a swimming pool, to me the idea of getting wet was the worst thing ever. However my owner worked patiently with me and in the end created a water monster 😁 Now if just says SWIM I get all excited and love to jump off the ramp into the pool. But this past week I have started to jump off the dock (ok, well it's maybe more of a flop) Practice makes perfect and positive reinforcement and patience and building up my confidence away from the pool have all helped. Now let's see if we can start increasing the distance of my jumps, my friend Jag jumped 5m last week 😱 super, crazy boy. Never underestimate your potential and get your owners to find the right people to help you.

My owner was super proud with me, because I was focused on my pitch dog ring and not on the other dog on the beach. We did go and chat to him later, his name was Pipo and it was his 4th birthday 😁 We said hello and then went about our business, he playing ball with his owners and me playing with my owner. Then I got to work with my friend Christina, she's just learning how to play with me 😁 During our training session, I was very good and stayed focused on her even during off lead recalls with other dogs and my owner being present. Variety is the spice of life!! Get your owners to mix it up a bit, but remind them to ensure that you are comfortable with the adventures.

In the video is a dog I know who is very very barky at me and other dogs..... but boy oh boy is he focused on his swimming. Yesterday was his first time in the big pool and first jump, well plop actually!!!, off the dock. Key's Tip of The Day ... Good Morning EveryDoggy!! Calmness, Calmness, Calmness... I can't stress it enough. To many of us dogs it doesn't come easy, and there's a few reasons for this. One of the main reasons is that our owners feel guilty for not spending much time with us during the day, so when they do we do uber exciting things like dragging them to the field and then playing chase the ball up and down to tire us out BUT this often has the opposite effect. Because they bring us home and leave us alone and because we are over stimulated and flying on adrenalin, we can't settle and in an attempt to release the tension we start chewing the flooring, door frames, furniture etc. Exercise is important for us dogs, but constructive exercise balanced with mental stimulation is what we will benefit from most. Remember to tell your owners that the crazy behaviours don't come from a calm mind. They're never going to tire us out physically, all they're doing is making us fitter and fitter.

Yesterday I had a surprise visit from my friends from the middle of the country... we were happy to see each other with lots of wagging tails, we posed for photos, ate rabbit ears and sent to sleep at ghe coffee shop while our owners chatted. A really good day in my books!! We didn't need to run around like idiots, we could just be happy and chilled out in each other's company. Sometimes sitting on a bench with friends watching the world go by is just what you need to do.

Today I have a question for you and your owners. When is the best age to start Puppy School? We are seeing more and more owners only looking for training for their puppies when they're around 6 to 8 months old and all kinds of crazy behaviours are starting to show, like barking at everything and anything, lunging on the lead, not coming when called, not listening to anything the owners are saying. Well my friends the best age to start Puppy School is as soon as possible, so many puppies are not getting the fundamentals of Socialization and LifeSkills until it's too late and by then the damage has already been done. Sign up to Puppy School as soon as possible from as early as possible, oh and your owners may come up with the Vaccinations are not completed arguments, for the record you're statisticly more likely to contract a disease in the vet's waiting room or carpark than you are in a properly run Puppy School so get to training asap
