🐶 **UK Lifting the Ban for dogs from Romania** 🐶
We are so pleased that the UK Government/DEFRA have now lifted the ban of importing dogs from Romania to the UK as of 29th October 2022. We have so many dogs who are already living wonderful lives in the UK so it is amazing that we are going to be able to continue with these adoptions. ♥️ It has been heart breaking to see puppies grow up in the shelter, who would have otherwise been in a loving home, or the older dogs who are now facing another winter in the shelter.
Some information was released this week, which is still not fully clear, but we do know that we now need to apply for a licence, although we are not sure how long this will take and what it fully entails – we will keep you updated in due course.
We have several dogs who have been reserved since before the ban, whose new owners have so kindly waited for them, and we will be prioritising these dogs to be the first ones to travel to the UK. 🚍
There are also other measures in place which we need to follow, which we are going to be looking into. These include the time frame in which these need to be done prior to arrival to the UK and also that we now need a registered address in the UK.
We will keep you updated as we try to get our heads around what needs doing, so we can make sure we do it properly. We would hate for any dogs to be turned away at the border or kept in quarantine so we need to make sure we get this right.
