Part 2- Introduction 🐇
🍃 By week 1, it should have calmed down. They might even enjoy a flopp next to each other. This doesn't mean they are bonded. It means they have accepted the introduction. Try as much as you can to be near both and to pet both if the new bunny isn't too shy.
Phase 2... you swop their toilets and make the new bunny's area a little bit bigger and move their hay area to another position on /of the fence.
Still back to back, same with water.
If you can, try to move their pen to a different place in the room. But it's the same style.
The smell and the moving around will make the first bunny accept the new a little bit more that the new one is on its territory. So when the bonding comes, it's not so dramatic.
This is for roughly a week. While this is all happening, don't be shy to step into the pen and do all the social bonding with the new bunny for 0you.
The more you expose yourself to the new will, the more the old bunny sees and gets the smell and interaction in a natural way.
Phase 3.
This is the last move around (hopefully) before the real deal. (You might need to do this again, buy you see if it's needed or not)
You do the same thing as phase 2. But making it larger. Swoping the toilets and also some of the toys, blankets, .
By this time, you should see if they are seeking each other for care, attention, and grooming through the fence. They might have already done this, which is great.
For another week or so, keep this just to feel calm and "used to" way they live a little.
Keep posted for "Bonding" post.
