We are committed to using the best available ethical material. This means local, organic, sustainable or fair trade materials. Our leather comes from Scandinavian cows or naturally reared Swedish reindeer and is of a superior quality. We only use the finest full-grain leather which shows the natural fibre grain which, over time, will age beautifully. The leather is a by-product and no animal is ki
lled for the use of its skin alone. We would never use any fur in our collections or leather from an animal only reared to be used for its skins (like snakes or crocodiles). For the same reasons we would never use calf skin as it comes from young animals. Our sheepskin comes from animals raised in English and Wales pastures, and it is certified organic. All our leather is vegetable tanned in an entirely natural process that uses no toxins. We also work with communities where the textile production really makes a difference to their livelihoods. This means we source sustainable textiles from reputable and fairly-traded sources, thus helping local economies and artisans. We also support small local companies which offer high-quality fabrics made to last. Britain has a long history of outstanding craftsmanship and we are proud to work with one of the few quality accessory manufacturers in the country. Using a local manufacturer also means our products have a small carbon footprint.
