Local expert Dr. Mihalis Kontrafouris reports a critical overpopulation of street cats on the Greek island of Leros, resulting in dire living conditions. Approximately 8,000 cats and kittens battle daily for survival.

At Animal Allies Society, we plan to get Greek hotels and companies to contribute to animal welfare. Think of it like influencer marketing but for a good cause.

We're thrilled to announce that Welfare Karpathos - Φιλοζωική Δράση Καρπάθου has joined our movement! 🐾

🌟 Meet Dr. Anna Katogiritis, a Greek-American veterinarian, born in Athens and raised on Karpathos island. Inspired by her early observations of stray animals, Dr. Katogiritis has volunteered globally, aiding both domestic and wild animals. She played a pivotal role in founding Animal Welfare Karpathos in 2020.

We just launched adoption pages for adoptable cats & dogs from Greece. If you'd like to have a look, you can find both pages on our website through the menu! 🥰

👉 Please be aware that we do not have the resources to help you with adoptions. Follow the steps on the website. Each pet has a specific contact person/NGO.

We are working tirelessly to launch the original project. We have some great ideas and partnerships coming up and hopefully a short trial this summer! Stay tuned and please continue to share the link with your loved ones so they can also join the movement! 🥳

Animal cruelty is usually hard to prove. It often goes unpunished, not only in Greece but globally.

When video proof exists, there is no excuse. The perpetrator must be held accountable and sentenced to jail.

If he walks away, it will set a harmful precedent.

In an apartment complex in Istanbul's Başakşehir district, residents sheltered a kitten named Eros. According to video footage, on January 1st, İbrahim Keloğlan kicked Eros to death, inflicting six minutes of torture.

🐾 People ask us: "Why do you need me to register?".

🔊 The reality is that hotels, restaurants, and companies will never take the time to listen to us if we have 100 followers, nor would hotels care about a certification if we don't show them the amount of support that we have. That's why one single NGO will never be able to get enough businesses involved to make a nationwide impact. They need a stronger voice and that's what we're creating.

🐱🐶 By uniting NGOs, Greek people, and tourists under one movement, we have the leverage to get companies involved. The pilot project is for Greece; if It works, we're going to be expanding to other countries.
