UPDATE: Original phone number is back up and running 😊 0468566302

ATTENTION DOUGLAS SHIRE RESIDENTS:

Following ex Cyclone Jasper, wildlife may become displaced and find themselves in close proximity to people and homes.
Please be compassionate, they will be very scared and confused.

Now is unfortunately a time we would expect to see more stranded Sea Snakes, keep an eye out and contact us straight away if you come across any.

While flooding and clean up efforts are still underway, all call out fees will be wiped. Contribution to fuel costs would be greatly appreciated but will not be mandatory.

Stay safe everyone

It's not just tourists that like to kick back & relax up here during the holidays, this Brown Tree Snake was enjoying the spa at a Port Douglas resort.
None of the resort guests were too keen to share, so he had the whole pool deck to himself!

What are the odds?!

Yesterday I received a callout to remove a Common Tree Snake (non venomous) from a Miallo property. That night, the same customer phoned again to say she had found a second snake at her home that needed relocating. This time, a nocturnal Brown Tree Snake (venomous).

Some close up photos of each species are included below that show the differences between the two. Most notably, round pupils for the Common Tree snake, who hunts during the day. And large eyes with vertical pupils used for hunting at night for the Brown Tree Snake

Although she wasn't too happy to be woken up, she'll be much happier and safer out in the rainforest away from pet dogs and cars.

Hi all, I have recently moved to Far North Queensland, where I will be restarting my reptile relocation and rescue business again.

Now servicing the Douglas Shire region 24/7 for all reptile relocations, species identification and reptile related info.

You’re probably hoping to never have to call me, but I’m just a phone call away if you ever do.

You can reach me on 0468566302

Cheers,
Sam

Hi all,

I have moved to Far North QLD for work so I will no longer be covering the Bundaberg Region for snake relocation.

My number is the same and I am still available for snake identification via photo or for general snake advice, but will not be available to physically remove snakes or conduct inspections.

There are still a few other snake replicators in the area, their contacts will be on LocalSearch.

Apologies for any inconvenience,

-Sam

Today's mission: Eastern Brown Snake tucked under some concrete underneath a house.

After a bit of concrete reshaping and gentle coaxing, the snake was caught and released back in the bush.

A bit of a sad post.
Last week I was called to relocate a young Carpet Python from a shed. Once I pulled her down from the shelving, I noticed an unusual lump.
This snake was sent to Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital where it was found she had a deformed bowel, that would result in infection and painful cysts whenever f***l matter would pass through. She was put to sleep last Thursday.

Reptiles are notorious for hiding illness, so if you come across a reptile and something just doesn't look right, please call a snake catcher or wildlife carer. You might be able to save a life or spare a lot of suffering.

A young Eastern Brown Snake that accidentally found her way inside a house. The callers did an excellent job, moving pets and children away from the snake, then keeping an eye on the snake at a safe distance while they waited for us to arrive.
Great work!

Top photo is a Brown Tree Snake, a mildly venomous nocturnal species.
Bottom photo is an Eastern Brown Snake, a highly venomous species that is *usually* active during the day, but this photo proves snakes don't always follow the rules.
