I’m celebrating Christmas with family and my two dogs 🐾🐾.

I came to think about how dogs are so different, personality wise. They have different needs ~ but all dogs enjoy access to their natural language.

The best advice I have for you in this holiday season is:

Have Patience with yourself and your dog. Don’t focus on the End result. Focus on one day at the time🙏🏽

Julen närmar sig, och ett nytt år står snart för dörren…

December är för många en tid fylld med ljus, gäster och mysiga stunder. Men det är också en tid då stress och högre tempo lätt kan smyga sig in.

Din hund märker alla dessa förändringar – och den vet ju inte vad jul är, eller varför du kanske beter dig lite annorlunda.

Det kan skapa stress hos din hund, och om du inte riktigt vet hur du ska hantera den stressen, kan den annars så fina juletiden snabbt bli mer krävande än härlig.

Om du firar en lugnare jul bara du och din hund, är mina jultips lika bra då – de hjälper till att skapa rofyllda ramar, särskilt när allt runt omkring blir mer hektiskt.

Window watcher
There’s always a way for you to decide whether your dog should be allowed to ‘stare out the window’.

If the staring is combined with whining, panting and barking then it’s a NO. Calmly remove your dog from the situation.

These photos show a calm version of window watching and I’m still paying attention to his body state from the corner of my eye.

We have large windows in the living room so good opportunities to have some rules around window watching.

When I’m working on my online projects for dog lovers and we have some quiet time in the morning before our longer walk. Doggies relax and rest as is normal in a pack.

The constant need for doing things or ‘pleasing’ your own needs of being a good dog owner is to be reflected upon.

Just, am I doing this out of pleasure or because ‘otherwise something is going to happen/ my dog will not be content’. Dogs love consistency.

Not necessarily e.g eating at the same hour every day but consistent in how you act and behave ~ how you communicate, subtly. Rest is a big part of that.

Yes it is important for all of us to get some sun and light.

Especially here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Both my dogs enjoy being in the sunlight, outside and inside☀️.

There’s also another interesting thing about just being in the sun. Seeing a dog observing.

‘Teaching’ a dog to observe life ~ in this case the garden and the woods very close by. This calms the dogs nervous system. Taking in instead of reacting.

A dog is always alert but there’s different kinds of alertness.

Sometimes we need to show our dog how we want our lives and energy in the garden.

It might take a bit of time but it’s totally worth it.

Teaching the dog self control = if nothing is expected of me, I can relax and enjoy the sun☀️

When you can’t stay home and check into a small, cozy B & B with a Japanese inspired waterfall in the garden for the night💚 The dogs and 1 kid settle in quickly as they are used to ‘traveling’ with me and also with the silent, natural dog communication, I show them that it’s no strange thing for us to be here and they relax. I always come prepared for what I can prepare. The rest is just trying to be present in the moment🙏🏽

My beautiful Muni, aka Hero, has her 7th birthday today 🍁 She is special (as all are😉). She came as a rescue dog in a truck from Portugal to Denmark and was mistaken for another dog so without no home she kind of ‘pulled’ me to Denmark to pick her up ( I was going to re-home another dog but Muni had snapped at someone and was ‘afraid of people’ so the rescue organisation asked me to help her instead as they couldn’t place her in a family). I picked her up together with my Mojo 💚 and when went on the 5 hour train to Stockholm. Muni wasn’t afraid of people. She just had a personal space that wasn’t respected. = heals dogs and dog owners. So first plan was to re-home her but that was out of question as I knew the moment I saw her that she was to be part of my pack. 🙏🏽 We celebrated today with a loooong forest walk 🌳 🌲
