A Vertical Aeroponic Farm in ̀ Using Technology

Matteo Babini, a 24-year-old from Forlì, has launched "Air," a vertical farm that focuses on sustainable farming practices. A graduate of the Cesena agricultural institute, Matteo chose to innovate by integrating into his farm.

With a system that recycles 95% of water, Babini grows herbs and vegetables like basil, Japanese arugula, and chard, supplying local restaurants and retailers. Currently small in scale, he plans to expand production in 2025, refining his techniques to reduce waste and use minimal land.

Vertical or Horizontal? In the  NFT system, the nutritious water is routed to the plant’s roots, while this is not the case in horizontal NFT systems. This leads to strong and healthy in the system.

Vertical house more plants per cubic meter, and drastically lowers the cost of managing the air temperature, humidity, and other attributes per plant. hydroponics carry more plants per square meter, with resultant less cost per plant.
