Work is what we do by the hour. Welding car bodies on an assembly line, washing dishes, computing taxes.. these are work. Labour, on the other hand, sets its own pace. We may get paid for it, but it’s harder to quantify: writing a poem, raising a child, invention in all forms — these are labours. Work is an intended activity that is accomplished through the will, but labour has its own schedule.

It’s been quite the journey, but there is no technology, no time-saving device that can alter the rhythms of creative labour. And in building our body of labour, we have also built a body of affection with the people who have helped us, and, like any great relationship, we know that it just gets better and better as the years roll on.

🦄Instagram✨—> reality🐴😂 It wasn’t feasible for us to fly interstate given the number of bags we had + animals, which meant that we spent a lot of time on the road driving through various cities. We often had to check out of hotels very early in the mornings and spend our day doing all sorts of stuff with the animals in tow. Between getting from point A to B, we also enjoyed lots of down time taking cat naps or simply sitting down and zoning out. Which proved to be very helpful for preserving sanity 🤔 and mental stamina 😌

Wrapping up our very first block party with a well-deserved cat nap..😴 WHAT A DAY!! and certainly one for the history books. We're overwhelmed with gratitude for each and every friend and furrr-mily 😻 who visited us at ChubbyBuddy Campus and making it even more special by bringing your warmth and laughters into our new home. How soon till we get bored and start planning for the next one? 🤪 Until then, thank you for being the best part of our ChubbyBuddy journey! 🐾💕

*screaming internally* 😱 because THESE.CHUBBYBUDDIES.ARE.RIDICULOUS!! 😭😭 The acclaimed helped us shoot two large litters and suffice to say we weren’t the only ones having a hard time telling the babies apart in pictures 🧐 It can be challenging to be objective about one’s breeding when we spend so much time with them (it’s so tempting to confuse personality-cute with conformation-correct), and photos provide us with a neutral and direct form of feedback. In seeking to improve both health and type through the diverse lines we work with, consistency across different litters is a happy problem in our work as preservation breeders and brings us a step closer to achieving our breeding goals. The luckiest winners? The ChubbyBuddy families bringing these dumplings home.. who were surprised with this sweet, sweet treat! 🍭

⚡️ChubbyBuddy Storm🌪️ , 5 months old. Storm was born at a time when we needed a next generation boy in order to diversify our gene pool, and because our existing boys will start to (by our standards) slowly age out. Titled boys like Murdoch, Will, Alan are no doubt showstoppers - but recognising and honouring their contribution to our cattery also means planning for their well deserved retirements well in advance. It’s too early to tell his potential - but at this point I want to keep him (and squish him!!) forever, and we are certainly hopeful 🕊️
