A local American Shorthair breeder once declared, presumably in relation to our pioneer licensed breeder status, that “Results speak larger than being [the] first govt approved breeder in Singapore. 😒“ We are immensely proud of our ChubbyBuddies’ results and are so grateful for all the support that have been given to us. While outcomes can never be guaranteed (at the end of the day, cat shows are nothing but beauty parades) and whatever you see on social media does not even begin to scratch the surface of the amount of work required to breed and maintain, responsibly and ethically so, these beautiful cats - the effort leading up to that presentation is a sum of small, persistent and continuous efforts. We are ever thankful towards our ChubbyBuddy community, mentors, amazing breeder friends and family (or friends who are just like family!) who have helped us in every step in our journey and for being so generous with your time, knowledge and sharing your bloodlines. Special thanks to Paul Meeker Ginger Meeker the Meekers for Guinness (collecting him from the US was quite a story in itself!), Helen Minh and Shayla Copas for all that you have done for us since we embarked on a new breed - we all love you guys to the Moonie 🌝🌚 and back. So what can we say? Nothing other than we totally agree 🙇🏻 That breeder was right, there are so many other things that matter and to be proud of in the world of cat fancy - all on top of being legal. #excellent_cats #cutepetclub #catsofinstagram #catsoninstagram #weeklyfluff #chubbybuddy #bsh #chubbybuddycats #britishshorthair #catstagram #catoftheday #instacat #britishshorthairworld #love #cutepetclub #meow #pets #bestmeow #ilovemycat #neko #ffss #showcat #猫 #igcats #sgevents #catlovers #catlife #kittens #asiacatexpo #cfacats

One of the many difficult things we had to navigate as a result of COVID-19 is the pandemic pet phenomenon. We had thought that people would be unwilling to incur extra expense in a recessionary climate, but were proven wrong when we realised so many others shared in our view that pets are decidedly not luxuries. COVID-19 has fundamentally altered when, where and how people get their work done, and for some people it means spending a large part of their work day at home - having a pet around helps to satisfy the need for interaction and affection.
.
Having said that, we cannot, and do not intend to match a ChubbyBuddy to every interested family. ChubbyBuddies are never first come first served and will always matched to each home on the basis of suitability. The unintended benefit of us keeping a waitlist and making kittens available only to screened homes is that impulsive buyers are necessarily filtered out, some of who will inevitably end up buying from commercial pet shops / kitten mills / backyard breeders, which we do not condone. A breeder who health tests, temperament tests, studies pedigrees, proves a cat worthy of being bred, and only breeds when doing so is of benefit to the breed is not contributing to the number of homeless cats. The number of homeless cats in the world is a problem, but it is not a problem exacerbated by reputable breeders and those who purchase from them.
.
No one should go out and get a pet before deciding what type would best suit their current and future lifestyle. The pandemic will end but the responsibility for a pet will endure for the pet’s lifetime. Please consider adoption especially if you are open to giving a homeless animal a chance and will be flexible about its type or temperament! Everyone has a great capacity to love unconditionally, and that is what really matters. 💕
When you *did not* ask for a big brother but you got one anyway 😑
