Honoring Mel's memory: This was in 2018. Mel, a beloved Golden Retriever, was known for her sweetness and obedience. Sadly, her journey took a challenging turn when diagnosed with leukemia. Her owner, despite the pain, wanted to capture memories, arranging a shoot amidst Mel's chemo treatments.

Tragically, just 3 days before the scheduled session, Mel passed away, leaving a void in her owner's heart. Despite the loss, the shoot went on, with Mel's ashes present in an urn. During the shoot, I can see the owner talking to the urn, explaining to Mel what was going on. 2 of her dogs also joined in the shoot. This was one of the most emotionally taxing yet meaningful shoot I have ever done.

Losing a pet is a profound pain all dog owners will face. Mel's story serves as a reminder not to delay cherished moments. Plan and capture memories while you can, as time with our furry friends is precious and fleeting.

Yesterday, we went to Sofitel Sentosa Resort and Spa . Did the shoot around the hotel and then took 132 steps down to the beach and then 132 steps back up to the hotel.

Yesterday, 6 dogs came and this was the result.
All the dogs are blood related. One of them is the mother. Such a joy seeing 6 dogs running all over the place :).

Cleo came for a photoshoot in the middle of 2022. It was rather urgent at that time as the vet says she has a few months left.

In April 2022, Cleo ended up testing positive for Babesia, and kept getting weaker with dropping platelets and RBCs in spite of treatment. Visits to specialists diagnosed her with IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia). She also had an enlarged spleen, and had multiple growths on her liver and spleen (now established as benign, but too risky to test back then). Her bone marrow biopsy also wasn’t great, spleen removal wasn’t an option. She spent most of April and May in and out of hospital, and the specialists verdict was that Cleo had ‘weeks left, maybe months, s, but her spleen could also burst any day’. This is when they opted not to operate (very low probability she would survive surgery) and put Cleo on palliative care. They spend more time together, with a primary focus on keeping her pain free with a good quality of life for however long she had.

Cleo thrived being on palliative care but in Jan 2023 they discovered sludge in her gall bladder (possibly all the fatty food she ate, but risky since it could potentially lead to blockage, ruptures or sepsis amongst other complications). She is now on a strict low/ no fat diet, and is monitored regularly via ultrasounds and echocardiograms to keep her healthy and catch any abnormalities early.

Cleo is a fighter and is currently pain free and also proved the vet wrong.

If you have a dog that is not well, don't give up hope. If you have a healthy dog, do regular checks.

First 3 photos was take in May 2022, next 2 photos was taken Sep 2022 and the last 2 was taken in Oct 2023. Next photoshoot planned for Jan 2024!

Here's a story that dog owners should take note of. Bailey's owner reached out to me to do a shoot as she fears that Bailey might not have much time left. I had to postpone a shoot to accommodate them.
Bailey has been sick since the first week she was brought home. Went thru several vet visits and found out that she has very bad environmental and food allergies. She was started on immunotherapy (regular injections) to control her allergies. She couldn't tolerate the usual medication for allergies but she responded very well to steroids. She has regular visits to the vet (almost weekly) , She gets eye infection, ear infection, skin rashes, diarrhoea and vomiting.

Earlier this year, she started pooping blood and vomiting. Without much thought, she was diagnosed to have addisons disease. She was started on the treatment for this which is zycortal injection and steroids. From there, her health has been a roller coaster ride. She seems to be better for 1 week then worsened the next week. Her vomiting is so bad and she started pooping very bloody stools. Vet visits routine went on for 3 to 4 months and each visits cost $500 to $1k.

Her steroids dose was gradually increasing from 5mg to 30mg before they decided they went to the specialist.

The specialist doubted the diagnosis of addisons disease. And strongly believes to start reducing her steroids dose. It took her 2 to 3 months to slowly bring her health and now she is on the road to recovery.

The outdoor photos was taken when she was sick and the studio's photos were taken last week. While the photos can't tell much difference, she was totally different last week, I can feel that she is very happy now as when I first met her a few months ago.

Blue the corgi is probably one of my favorite subjects and also one of the cutest. These photos were taken 19 months apart. The innocent and cute looks at 3 months old have transformed into a confident and playful character. Don't be fooled, though; she's still as cute as ever and has no qualms about letting her voice be heard. I really had fun photographing them. :)

One of the rare dogs in Singapore. Bobo is a Sha Pei.
The ancient Chinese originally bred Shar-Pei to guard the royal palace and protect the royal family. The Shar-Pei's loose skin was designed to protect them in dogfights. If another dog grabbed onto the Shar-Pei's skin, they could still get away, and his internal organs wouldn't be damaged.

Bobo is a very calm dog who doesn't bark. She is very gentle and will pose when motivated with treats and toys. :)
