Now that Buff is going to be discharged in a few days, I have been thinking of his life after the vet. Returning him back to his usual spot is very unlikely, given that he has had the same back wound more than twice.

Relocating him to my area where I also feed the comm cats is an option, but there are a few things to consider: conflicts with other comm cats in the area, and wandering off because itโ€™s a new location.

A third option I thought of (and will most likely be following through) is finding him a fosterer and eventually, an adopter. I do not know how well he can adapt to an indoor life but seeing how heโ€™s fairing while being hospitalized in the vet, he seems to have no issues living indoors. He seems like quite the lap cat! From what Iโ€™ve seen heโ€™s really cuddly and loves being petted, especially under the chin! If the third option is chosen, he will need to do a fiv/felv test which will be added into his vet bills.

Some guidelines for his potential fosterer, windows Must be meshed and home visits to be allowed. If youโ€™re able to foster Buff, please shoot me a pm!

Weโ€™re introducing everyone to the first rescue I ever conducted! This is Buff the community cat, named after his very chonky, and buff body! He had been living in a carpark with four other community cats in Woodlands area.

A bit more about his background, he disappeared for an entire year back in 2018, and suddenly reappeared in 2019 with a huge ugly wound on his back that was oozing pus and smelling so stinky. Our immediate suspect was cat fights, but none of the other cats at the carpark had any fight wounds, and they all seemed to tolerate each other pretty well. One of his feeders brought him to the SPCA where he stayed for over a month, wound fully healed.

Fast forward to 2020, he disappeared for a few weeks and came back with the same equally horrifying wound, oozing pass and matted fur around the wound! So the feeder again brought him to the SPCA. In 2021, he once again showed up with the terrible wound on his back, and on 12 October 2021 I brought him to Passion Vet because SPCA was dealing with another rescue.

At the vet, we suspect he could have actually been burned by a car exhaust pipe while he was stretching under the car, which would explain why the wound kept happening again even after it fully healed.

Right now Buff is still hospitalized at Passion Vet, receiving a lot of love and attention from all the vet nurses, and enjoying all the food he can get. As of 26 October, his wound has gotten smaller compared to when he first visited the vet and we hope he can be discharged soon!
