Long before Grobrix became urban farmers to some of the world’s largest technology companies, energy names and financial institutions, our proprietary technology was originally designed for home. And it was designed specifically for this very spot right next to my coffee machine 🤩.
I thought it would be nice to tend to my edible garden whilst enjoying a morning espresso ☕️ or sipplin’ on a glass of chardonnay 🥂 before dinner. I had a few pain points that I was trying to solve too!

I was tired of finding unopened rotting bags of mesclun mix in the crisper drawer of my fridge.
😥
I was irritated with the unreliable supply and poor quality of herbs available in the supermarket coming over the border from Malaysia.
😖
I was annoyed with the seemingly unnecessary use of single use plastics which I knew would never be recycled in Singapore.
😟
I was frustrated with the results of growing greens and herbs outside on my balcony. Too much heat. Not enough sunlight. Overwatered. Underwatered. Pest infestations.
🐛😫.

In only 18 months, we have evolved from a spare bedroom startup to a team of six full time passionate urban farmers on a mission to paint the town green. We now operate Kuala Lumpur and we have just incorporated in Australia in preparation for a Sydney Q2 launch.

The school holidays give a good opportunity for you to observe and work on your children's fine motor skills. It may not seem like a big deal to us adults but children may not always be able to grasp the technique of cutting straightaway. Safety always comes first so remember to brief your children on the importance of scissors safety and guide them on doing so. Knowing how to hold the scissors when moving with it and when passing it to someone are amongst the safety measures that they need to follow. Knowing how to store scissors safely is also important. Nobody wants to get hurt in the house! After they know scissors safety, teach them the proper way of holding the scissors. Start with letting them cut straight lines on a piece of paper before easing them into cutting curved lines. It takes time so be patient with them. Eventually, they will be ready to cut thicker materials and more importantly, doing so safely! For example, Josie here was able to cut the leaves off the Grobrix system safely and easily with her own pair of children's scissors!
