Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter – OSCAS A non-profit dog shelter devoted to caring for rescued Singapore Specials and abandoned dogs. Stray rescue in Singapore is a long tiring journey.

Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter (OSCAS) is a registered charity and non-profit dog shelter that has been in existence since 2006. Over the years, the shelter has rescued mainly stray or abandoned dogs from the streets or from being culled. About a hundred Singapore Specials currently call this shelter home and needless to say, it can only be sustained with help from trusty volunteers and kind donations or sponsorships. Join us to be their voice.

Elio finds his home! It's been about a month that Elio has been in a home with Judy and Chris. Having their dedicated attention he has blossomed and shown how smart he is under the positive reinforcement training they have been giving him. Following Judy shares more about her adoption journey with Elio.

"From the moment I met Elio, I knew he was special. I started volunteering at OSCAS to help fill the void in my life after our senior dog passed away earlier this year, and that’s when I met Elio. Each week, I would spend time with him on walks in the park or in his kennel, and when we were ready, Chris and I submitted an adoption application.

"Being a former stray dog who has never lived in a home, the first few days were challenging, but fast forward one month, Elio has learned so much and continues to be more comfortable with us and being in a home. We still need to work on a few things together, but we know that with time and patience, we will get there.

"We have discovered that Elio is really smart and he has learned lots of new tricks. He loves food and enjoys foraging for treats in a snuffle mat every evening. His excitement when we come through the front door is unmatched! Elio makes us laugh every day and, for the first time since the passing of our dog, our house feels like a home again.

"Thank you to Mary for entrusting us with Elio, and to the OSCAS rehoming team (Theresa, Jennica and Flora) for their continuous support and encouragement. It’s evident that the team at OSCAS really cherish all the dogs under their care. We hope that Elio’s shelter buddies will also find loving homes - they all deserve one."

Thank you Judy and Chris for adopting and we are sure Elio will blossom under your care. We have many more specials looking for their dedicated homes, if you are ready to welcome a lifetime furry family member please view our adoption gallery on the website and email us at [email protected]

To continue the spotlight on the pawdels looking for homes in our “2025 calendar - Adopt Me” – meet Nara our, January girl.

Born in 2018, this little girl has blossomed over time in the company of her fur friends who she shares a kennel and likes to instigate play with.

Nara was rescued from the streets and had clearly already been a mother. When she came to us, she was timid and wary of human contact. She has since come a long way, now walking well on leash and most of all enjoys walks with her fur friends. She greets our volunteers with an enthusiastic wag and enjoys treats and pats from familiar humans.

Nara would do well in a household with other dogs and patient humans willing to take the time to get to know her and to help her adjust to a new urban and home environment. She does not have experience around kids.

If you think you are a good match to give Nara, her forever home please write to us at [email protected]

Below is how you can purchase our 2025 calendar which features sweet Nara!

Will you give the gift of life from just $18? Visit https://www.causesforanimals.com/vaccination-drive-2024.html

This Vaccine Drive is in aid of 15 shelters and stray feeders island wide. We hope to vaccinate 1000 animals with your help!

Singapore is land-scarce. Shelters for dogs and cats are usually full to the brim. These street animals are taken in as quickly as volunteers get them adopted out, resulting in the existing residents of each shelter living in very close quarters.

Out in the streets, street dogs and cats fend for themselves out in the open, away from anything remotely anti-bacterial, in constant contact with germs and viruses. There are no immediate, cost-friendly solutions to keep them healthy except to vaccinate them.

Vaccination is a $18-a-pop solution that keeps each vaccinated dog and cat healthy for the next 365 days. During that time, they are kept immunized against infectious, deadly diseases like distemper and parvovirus. The $18 cost also includes dewormer for each rescue, ensuring none die eaten out from the inside by hookworms.

Our Vaccine Drive has expanded this year to help smaller rescue animals like cats and rabbits. We are also happy to lend support to the dogs on our offshore islands as well. We hope to keep these animals on our streets, in foster homes and shelters happy and healthy too!

Please help us help animals in need!

With our 2025 Calendar - Adopt Me - now on sale, we would like to introduce some of the monthly muses who grace the pages and are looking for homes.

Meet Coco, this pretty young girl came to us early this year under the TNR program. She is the youngest dog currently at the shelter being nearly 1 year old.

She was initially incredibly shy and wary of humans. She has since come a long way thanks to interacting with other dogs. While she’s still not completely comfortable being petted, she will willingly take treats and engage with familiar people. She enjoys walking with other dogs and loves running and rolling on the grass when she has the chance.

Coco may not be suited to a home with young kids, but would do well with another friendly dog she could play and grow in confidence from. With time and patience, Coco would blossom into a loving family member with people who can help her shine. Note: Coco is not HDB approved.

If you think you are the right matched home for Coco please email us at [email protected] and read through our adoption procedures too https://www.oscas.sg/help-adopt

Every rescued dog comes with their own unique story of resilience, their battle for survival and overcoming adversity. By adopting, you become a part of their ongoing story of giving them a second chance at a better life.

Shelters work hard to find an ideal match between a potential adopter and the dog. Adopting a furry companion is a lifetime decision. Hence, the matching process must be carefully undertaken. The aim is to find the best fit to ensure that the profile of the dog matches the lifestyle and experience of the adopter.

If you are seriously thinking of inviting a fur kid into your life, please consider adopting from a shelter. Shelters make every effort to ensure the best match. Finding these rescued dogs the right loving forever home is the main priority.

Full proceeds from the purchase of this calendar will go towards caring for the dogs currently living at the shelter until homes are found. Thank you for your support!

Manja’s story: a spirited and resilient Singapore Special

We welcome Manja Girl into the OSCAS family. A street canine, she called a factory home for over a decade. Over the years, she became a familiar face, known for her gentle nature and enduring spirit, and she thrived in spite of her harsh surroundings.

Recently, however, Manja’s health began to deteriorate. She suddenly collapsed due to weakness in her hindlimbs. One of our volunteers was alerted to her plight and brought her into OSCAS where she could get the care and attention that she deserves.

We conducted a thorough medical investigation which revealed a huge liver mass and enlarged adrenal glands with nodules that may have invaded the adjacent arteries that send blood out to the heart. Based on her medical assessment, her chances of being able to walk again are very low. Given these circumstances, it was unlikely that Manja would have survived on the streets.

Despite her failing health, Manja remains upbeat and friendly and greets our volunteers with a tail wag. Manja is a testament to the resilience of street canines, who despite the hardships they face, still find joy and comfort in their later years.

We will endeavor to give Manja the best possible care and make the rest of her life as comfortable as possible.

If you would like to support our efforts to care for dogs like Manja and help them lead their best lives, you can donate here: bit.ly/oscas-double

We appreciate your support.

Young Bailey is looking for a special home that has the patience and experience to nurture him.

A gentle, timid soul but when you gain his trust, a playful, sweet, treat-loving dog emerges. Having fun in the safety of the grass runs at the shelter with friends is what he loves the most, puts him at ease and helps to build his confidence.

Bailey is walking on leash but is easily spooked so needs a home who understands what helps him. A home with a garden, friendly dog(s), empathetic pawrents without young children would be ideal!

Bailey currently shares a kennel with two other dogs, as company helps him. He has also spent time in a volunteer’s home with two other dogs and a teenager, who were going to adopt him but unfortunately, they found he had Babesia Gibsoni so can’t move him to NZ when the family relocates. (It is only NZ that has this restriction, moving to other countries is not an issue.) The volunteer and her family are still in Singapore to guide and support the potential home we are hoping to find him!

If you think you could be the home that Bailey needs, please email us at [email protected]

Adopt Hua Hua!

Meet Hua Hua, a sweet, friendly 8 year old girl who has been with us for over one year.

Rescued from a factory after an episode of epilepsy, she started on medication and has had no further incidents since being at the shelter. However, she will need to be monitored and continue the medication as needed with check ups every six months.

Hua Hua enjoys human company and the treats that come with it. She walks well on leash and enjoys leisurely strolls. Hua Hua will make an easy going member to a family, with kids and other pets. If you are looking for a sweet, friendly and chilled companion, Hua Hua is your girl!

Email [email protected] to express your interest and an application form will be sent. Please read through our adoption procedures on the website too https://www.oscas.sg/help-adopt

Our Story

Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter Ltd (OSCAS) is a registered charity devoted to caring for a hundred rescued strays. These dogs are rescued from industrial estates, parks and urbanisation of jungles to save them from being culled by the local authorities. These 'Singapore Specials' call OSCAS their home as they wait for their right families to come along. Stray rescue in Singapore is a long tiring journey and a never-ending issue. OSCAS was founded by two ladies who have been relying on their life savings to support the shelter. Help is needed to continue caring for the dogs. “Lend a Hand, Save a Paw” Monetary donations are welcomed to help offset hefty vet bills and operational costs. Please email or PM us the transaction details for admin purposes. Account Name: Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter Ltd Bank: DBS (Current) Account Number: 048-904283-4 SWIFT Code: DBSSSGSG (for overseas transfer) Alternatively, supporters can sponsor a dog in our shelter and contribute on a monthly basis. More information about the sponsorship scheme can be found on our website. We also recruit committed volunteers to help with befriending and rehabilitating our dogs as well as assist us in other ways. Please register as a volunteer on our website. You will then receive a welcome email with the relevant information to sign up for your first training session. Our shelter also requires regular donations of dry food, canned food, rice, meat dust, dog treats, eggs, dishwashing liquid, floor disinfectant, clean towels and other items on an ad-hoc basis. Please contact us if you are able to contribute these necessities.
