Some major changes in the FCI 2023 rules with effect from 1 January 2023:

1) New categories (Intermediate)-

S (Small) : for dogs measuring less than 35 cm at the withers
M (Medium) : for dogs measuring 35 cm or more and less than 43 cm at the withers
I (Intermediate) : for dogs measuring 43 cm or more and less than 48 cm at the withers
L (Large) : for dogs measuring 48 cm or more at the withers

2) Contact Zone ( AF and DW up contact not judged) -

On the dog-walk and A-frame, the dog must touch the down contact zone with at least one paw or part of paw. On the see-saw, the dog must touch both the up and down contact zones with at least one paw or part of a paw. Failure to do so: 5 faults each time it occurs. The dog is considered to have left the obstacle when all four paws are on the ground.

3) Remove of Flat Tunnel from obstacles list

Our Season two will be launched on 3 May 2021. Season 2 will have a brand new format. It will be a Mini-Cast, a short version of a podcast. The mini cast will be a 15-20 minutes episode focusing only on a Single topic.

Dog Owners always ask, it is possible to send your puppy to some Board and Training Facility, and they will be returned to my trained dog. The Answers is Yes and No.

Let me give you an analogy. Dog Training is like driving a car. Once you learnt how to drive, your skills depend on daily practice. For example, if you took 2-weeks of holidays and you will return home and start driving, your driving skills, road sense, parking, changing lanes need some time to be back to normal.

It's the same as dog training. If you don't practice the skill sets regularly, your puppy or dog will not be capable of performing the behaviour you are requesting.

So it will be like you will need a driver to ferry you around, as you are not capable of driving. And you still can't manage and handle the car.

Reinforcement should be built into our daily routine. The bare minimum is to match the attention from our dog. If the walk is 30 minutes, why can't we spend the 30 minutes, dog-owner time and build the bond and trust?

Caveat Emptor - Separating the truth from the market spin. Yes, I am talking about Dog Training and the money and time you invested and to ensure you get what you spent.

Would you let a Self-claim or Apprentice Electrician do up your electricity at your home or would you engage a tutor with no education background or any education credentials?

I always remember this phrase from my IT background, I don't want you (engineers) to come and use my environment to train, we are not a training institution and you are paid to do a professional job.

Why do we subject our poor pup to train under unqualified Dog Trainers without proper training and further education?

Our dog depends on us to be prudent, wise and choose the best trainers for their proper training.
