⚠️Anxious horse in the trailer⁉️ I got you covered. On the video, you can see my mare Kessie waiting inside the trailer before her vet appointment at the clinic. There was a huge construction site on the other side of the road and she was starting to get worried because of the sounds that all the machinery was making. But because I trained her to be able to relax, and stay relaxed in difficult situations such as this one, she was able to listen to my instruction and get herself from a freeze response to a more soft state where she felt safe enough to be able to start nibbling on her hay. Preparation is key in such moments, and with the training that I teach, which is built on helping the horse regulate their nervous system better, the horse can easily handle stressful situations and turn them into positive experiences. ❌You can’t avoid every stressful situation in life with your horse! Just teach them to handle it better! 🙌🏼. Check out my REWIRE training program where you can take your horse from anxious to super reliable and calm partner in 12 weeks!👇🏼www.kesskaraequestrian.com
Is your horse having problems with their TMJ? While symptoms in every horse may vary they could be showing incorrect gaits or lameness, head shaking, teeth grinding, spookiness, ear sensitivity, head shyness, poor top line, difficulty flexing the poll and engaging the hindquarters, and trouble with lead changes. A proper functioning of TMJ not only affects the horses digestion, but also their balance and biomechanics. If your horse is experiencing any of those symptoms, please consult with the vet and osteopath to make a proper diagnosis and rehabilitation plan. In the meantime, you can already help your horse today without having to be an expert. By placing your fingers gently on either side of the TMJ only with an intention of helping the horse release. Try this next time you see your horse and let me know how it goes! 🙌🏼kesskaraequestrian.com #equestrian #horsegirl #horsetraining #horse #horsesofinstagram #horses #horseriding #showjumping #instahorse #paard#equestrianlife #equestrianstyle #equine #horselove #horselover #horsephotography #equestriansofinstagram #equestrianlifestyle #horsebackriding #rider #instahorses #horselovers #horselife #equestrians #riding #paard #kesskaraequestrian

How to calm a horse down
🔊 Is it possible to teach your horse to relax rather than freak out and spook? HELL YEAH!💪🏼
I'm not saying that I teach a horse to not be afraid - that isn't possible and even if you could teach it, it would be actually very dangerous!
But we CAN teach them to regulate their nervous system better and with that their overall level of stress. Now if we can lower their overall level of stress then we will start seeing a horse who is more relaxed and less triggered by anything in the environment.

PART 2️⃣ of Daily Routine with one of my horses.
After a quick energy check, we go to grooming and tacking up. I really aim to do as much as possible at liberty with my mare Kessie. I found that with it I can have a much better understanding of her physical, mental, and emotional state.
I use the time for grooming also to establish a solid relaxation in her so that we can then start our training with a relaxed mind which is ready to learn.
How is it possible to do this? We have established a solid connection and trust, all through our super gentle and simple training routine.
✨Do you also dream of a deeper connection with your horse?
Then don’t hesitate to send me a message or check over my website!

⭐️ PART 2️⃣ (Systematic) Desensitization Vs. Flooding
Yesterday I shared some theory on what desensitization in comparison to flooding is and what it can do to horses.
Today I wanted to show you a real example of what a good systematic desensitization can achieve in already one short session. We didn’t get the end result we wanted yet, but I gave some solid ground and needed information for the horse and owner to start with.
The horse was quite sensitive to the sound and touch of spray, he really didn’t feel comfortable while being sprayed. So we wanted to change that and turn spraying not into something he just needs to tolerate but into an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
So with very gradual small steps we were able to already in the first 15min get him to be okay with the sound and touch. You can see that he is still not 100% convinced about it, but with good practice he will become.
That is why proper systematic desensitization is called a gradual process and not a one time quick fix.
Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃
