...vandaag een Nederlandse vrouw ontmoet en zij, en ik heb hetzelfde van weinig andere mensen eerder gehoord, heeft een kat uit Spanje geadopteerd. Ik weet ook dat andere mensen katten adopteren uit andere landen, waar ze veel op straat leven en allemaal een beter leven en "bestuur" verdienen, wat ze helaas niet zo snel zullen krijgen.
Ik kom zelf uit zo'n land, en ik zie daar overvolle gestichten met onvoldoende ruimte, onvoldoende fondsen en onvoldoende intelligentie van "eigenaren", of beter "bewaarders?" die er niets om geven, of geen geld hebben om ze te steriliseren/castreren. Daardoor zie ik veel kittens op de Facebookpagina's van kattenasielen en -verenigingen, kittens in slechte omstandigheden of gewoon geen plek om een gelukkig kattenleven te leiden of nauwelijks.
Ik weet hoe het werkt (het werkt echt en daar ben ik zo dankbaar voor) hier in Nederland. Bijna geen zwerfkatten/kittens op straat, als je er een paar vindt, zijn het meestal gechipte en gesteriliseerde. Als niet, er is dierenambulance die komen verzorgen. Dit is helaas niet overal gebruikelijk.
Ik weet ook dat toen ik kitten uit het asiel hier in Nederland wilde adopteren, ze vrijwel meteen gereserveerd waren. Ikzelf moet de mijne voor 150€ kopen op Maarktplaats. Geen spijt natuurlijk, ze is de beste! 😻
Ik ben al een aantal Facebook-pagina's tegengekomen over het adopteren van katten uit Cyprus, Griekland, Oekraïne..Waarschijnlijk zullen er meer zijn, uit meer landen.
Slowaakse katten hebben zeker ook hulp nodig. Ik hoop dat deze pagina de liefde voor de schatjes zal verbinden met de noodzaak om ze te helpen, wat resulteert in het beste wat je kunt hebben: een harige schat in je leven 😺

I also know that other people adopt cats from other countries, where they live a lot on the streets and all deserve a better life and "governance", which unfortunately they will not get so quickly.
I come from such a country myself, and I see overcrowded asylums there with insufficient space, insufficient funds and insufficient intelligence of "owners", or better "feeders?" who don't care, or don't have the money to spay/neuter them. As a result, I see a lot of kittens on the pages of cat shelters and associations, kittens in poor conditions or simply no place to live a happy cat life or life hardly at all.
I know how it works (it really works and I am so grateful for that) here in the Netherlands. Hardly any stray cats/kittens on the street, if you find some, they are usually chipped and sterilized, if not animal ambulances come and take care of them. Unfortunately, this is not common everywhere.
I also know that when I wanted to adopt a kitten from the shelter here in the Netherlands, they were reserved almost immediately. I have to buy mine for €150 on Maarktplaats. No regrets of course, she's the best! 😻
I've already come across a number of pages about adopting cats from Cyprus, Greece, Ukraine...Probably there are more, from more countries.
Slovak cats definitely need help also!
