for those following the excitement on the north beach today..... baby pygmy sperm whale (so I was told) showed up with numerous propeller marks and a history of disorientation. none of the cuts, which just peeled off some skin and no deeper, were suture worthy. while nurse-maided by Amy in my baby salt pond, wounds were disinfected and a rehab plan was formulated by DECR. Should be in a salt water pool to hopefully recover......thanks to all those that helped along the way... and big shout to DECR for their great response.

because birdie was flapping around the cage yesterday.... thought it was time to release him before the wind picked up and he injured himself within the cage. he has a bare spot on his shoulder where the tape was adhered, but it looks okay. fed him, waited an hour, then opened the door. he ate the food and sat in the doorway for over an hour. the wind was beginning to pick up and as I approached the cage, instead of flying away, he retreated tp the back corner..... closed the door and now will wait for better weather...….
new arrival yesterday...is eating, but has some leg issues to deal with...also a bit camera shy
