Happy’ story!! 🐶🧡

What better way to start the new year!! Happy New Year to everyone!! 🥳🎉🎈🎊

Do you remember ‘Happy’?

We fund-raised for her back in September when she was suffering from Distemper disease. Distemper would have killed her for sure without your donations which allowed us to send her for treatment. It is a very dangerous disease which has just a 20% survival rate with veterinary care- without it, she surely would have died.

Happy has now finally moved to the Sanctuary with Bella and Bingo who we rescued from the bridge. They have already been friends for several months here at our clinic in Sangkhlaburi.

We also joined the 5 little puppies that were abandoned at our Sanctuary 2 months earlier to the group.

Happy is adjusting very well and her psychological issues left from the disease have diminished substantially (she is walking much less in circles now and has integrated perfectly to her pack) As you can see, she is one happy ‘Happy’!

Thank you to everyone who donated!

Meta are not allowing our posts to be seen so please help us by sharing, liking and commenting, as all these steps help us to extend our reach to find more support!

🩶🐀Happy story 🐀🩶

This is a little story about a mother rat, who made a nest in our school, in grade 7 under the shelves. One day after a big clean up, some staff found the nest with 5 tiny pups. They were young, with fur, but their eyes were still closed.
It was thought that the best thing to do, would be to put them in a basket outside the window, to protect them from predators and for a while it worked and the mother went in and out to take care of them. She then decided to relocate them all, up a tree, but sadly, 2 fell down and after a whole night in the basket, the mother never returned.

Now, one of our caring grade 7 children has become their surrogate Mum. She also lets other students watch her to learn how it is done.
We’re happy to say that the pups are thriving.

We believe in rescuing any animal in need if we can, regardless of their reputation in society.

The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong in the world.” -Dr. Paul Farmer

The Tigerlily Memorial Fund 💛🕊

Message from our founder, Gemma:

In October 2021, I had to say goodbye to the wonderful dog who not only changed my life, but also the fate of the animals of Sangklaburi town forever. This was Tigerlily who was my very first rescue and the catalyst for the beginning of animal rescue in our remote village on the border with Myanmar.

Tigerlily was 14 years old when she eventually had to be euthanised due to throat cancer. It was unfortunately during covid, so I wasn't allowed to hold her for the premed. She screamed in the next room, but it was nobody's fault- just s**t timing. After the premed, I was able to hold her as the vet stood far from us with a drip line to inject the anesthetic. I made 'happy' sounds in her ear and her tail wagged which was lovely to see, before the anesthetic reached her and she fell asleep for the last time in my arms.

I have had to witness hundreds of sad moments such as these and perform euthanasia myself, but it has never gotten easier and each time, the weight on my shoulders feels heavier and harder to bear. There is no restbite, no light at the end of the tunnel, because there are too many animals to save, not enough support and never enough funds for us to help them all.

It is thanks to a friend of mine and Tigerlily's that the Tigerlily Memorial Appeal was borne. Jayne who we used to see regularly on dog walks wanted to help me to create something positive from her loss and to help continue the work of the animal sanctuary that Tigerlily started. Jayne generously gave £200 to start the fund.

Full story of Tigerlily's amazing life here and her fund raising appeal:

Please help us to continue our work by donating and sharing our Gofundme appeal.

Thank you! 💛🕊

🧡 Happy ending emergency rescue 🧡

This little puppy came to our clinic late one evening. He was in bad shape, after having fallen from a boat onto the propeller.

We still have no full time vet, so our sanctuary manager, Song came straight away and did everything that he could to save this boy, with the knowledge that he’s gained from 11 years of training from previous sanctuary vets.

Thanks to Song, this pup has made a great recovery- as you can see from the 1st two pictures, which were taken when he came back to get his stitches removed. The following pictures were taken on the evening of his rescue.

We offer a free emergency service to the many street/ owned animals in the area, as well as performing regular sterilising projects whenever we have a vet.

Please donate if you can. If you cannot donate, there are many other ways to help- by fundraising, sponsoring one of our animals, adopting, fostering, volunteering or just sharing our posts and our news.

If you would like to donate, you can:

PAYPAL: https://paypal.me/thaianimals or

BANK TRANSFER: http://www.thaianimalsanctuary.com/index.php/donate/

Please do consider setting up a monthly donation if you can, however small it is.

🐶 Happy story 🐶

Lily’s adoption journey so far…😍

She is loving life in England and has quickly transformed into a beautiful princess in her foster home, where beds and sofas are her thrones and woodland walks, treats and toys are all for her to enjoy 🧡

We wish that all of our dogs got to experience this life and it brings us such joy to know that Lily is being loved and cared for. Rescue is hard and it’s these happy stories that keep us going 🥲

It is thanks to the hard work and altruism of many people that Lily was able to get to the UK and without even one of these people- this beautiful, kind and deserving girl would not be here with a bright future ahead of her…

Thanks to Lettie who donated £500, to Pete and John for a further £100 (sadly it costs more than £1000 now to bring one of our dogs to the UK which means that most of our animals don’t get this chance anymore)

Immense gratitude to flight volunteer Heidi, who worked really hard to get her a place on the plane,
Dave who brought her to the UK and took care of her in Amsterdam,
Shireen and Mark who collected her from the airport and last but not least
Elaine and Mike who have opened up their home and their hearts for Lily in England and are doing everything they can to make her feel safe and loved! 💕

Pictures in reverse order- Now in the UK- Amsterdam- Bangkok 🐶🐾✈️

We are a free rescue service and are running very low on funds at the moment. If you can donate anything, however small, we would be very grateful. Here are some quick ways to donate:

‼️ Urgent plea for funds ‼️

This is Nembu, one of our oldest residents who was rescued by Emily when he was just a small puppy with his 2 brothers Zollie and Mowgli. Sadly, Nembu has some lumps in his throat that are preventing him from eating and we would like to take him to the vet.

We have no money at all now and desperately need funds. It maybe that Nembu has something untreatable, but we would like to know that we have given him every chance.

Please donate some money, however small. Or if you can’t donate, please share, like and comment to help this post be seen by a larger audience.

Thank you 🙏🏻🧡

🧡 ‘HAPPY’S’ HAPPY ENDING 🧡

This is Happy who was rushed to us after she has suffered a suspected car accident. We drove her to the emergency vet 4 hours from us, but they refused to treat her after they realised that it was Distemper disease which is highly contagious.

We didn’t give up and drove her to another vet which was 7 hours away in Bangkok.

We are pleased to say that, in-spite of only a 20% survival rate for this disease, by miracle Happy has survived! 🧡🧡🧡

It cost us 20,000 baht (£460/ €550/ $612) in Bangkok where she stayed for 5 days and another 5,000 baht for blood tests and meds.
Petrol to Bangkok and back and again to Kanchanaburi cost 5,000 baht and then us 9,500 baht (£220/ €260/ $292) to spay her.

That’s a total of 38,500 baht!! (£880/ €1,000/ $1,177

Please help us to raise the money!

We are run solely on donations and are always struggling to make ends meet. Most months we cannot even meet our running costs, so bills like this are devastating to us.

🐶Adopter or Foster home needed-UK or Amsterdam!🐶

We are looking for an adopter or foster home for our dear Thai rescue dog ‘Lily’ who will be arriving from Thailand on the14th of September (Amsterdam) 17th of September (UK)

Lily is 2 years old. She was found starving by a lake with her mum and 4 siblings and nursed back to health. Two siblings have found their forever homes, but Lily and her sister are still waiting.

Lily is brilliant with children and other animals and has the sweetest personality.

Could you give Lily a loving home even for a little while whilst we search for a forever home?

Please do ask around for us to help us find someone or if you are on social media, please make a post or share ours!! Thank you so much!

We are so sad to hear of the sudden passing of Brother Lek from Monk Uttma temple.

Brother Lek was such a kind and caring person who really loved animals. He would feed all those who lived in his temple and would regularly bring us sick ones and help us to catch them for our regular sterilising projects at the temple. The animals will miss him terribly 😢

He was always so grateful to us for taking care of the animals and would donate money or food for the dogs whenever he could.

Rest in peace Brother Lek. 💔

The monkeys have settled in very well. 🧡🐵

Their favourite food is mangoes, corn, leaves and bamboo shoots! 🥭 🌽

They love to climb the 10 metres to the top of their enclosure and hang out and they enjoy untying knots that we leave for them. It’s not freedom but they have 10 times more space and privacy from people and we can really see how much happier they are 🥹🧡

⭐️ VET PAID POSITION, THAILAND ⭐️

🧡 Please share our post! 🧡

An exciting opportunity has suddenly become available for a resident vet here in beautiful Sangklaburi.

‘Sangklaburi town, on the Burmese border is surrounded by stunning mountains, national parks, waterfalls & rivers.

With a Thai, Burmese, Karen & Mon population, the rich cultural diversity & scenic backdrops are what make this beautiful town unique.

Our animal sanctuary was founded in 2007 & we opened our clinic in 2012. We ask most clients for a donation but do not charge them for our service, as most don’t have the funds.

We see many ailments- tick & flea borne issues, scabies, distemper, parvovirus, cancers, pyometra’s,
FeLV, FIV, human inflicted injuries ranging from machete wounds, poisonings, gun shot wounds & car & motorbike accidents are all common. We also conduct regular sterilising & vaccination programs.

Our sanctuary is currently home to 70 dogs, 15 cats, 2 monkeys & a small number of rabbits, birds & turtles. We treat any animal in need at our clinic & sometimes in situ, but the most common patients we see are dogs & cats as there is a huge population, both owned & feral.

You will work with a small number of dedicated staff, volunteers, a manager & a full time care assistant
manager who is proficient in some vet nursing roles, having assisted vets for 11 years now. If you really
want to make a difference & challenge yourself, our clinic is the place for you.’
