⭐️ VET PAID POSITION, THAILAND ⭐️

🧡 Please share our post! 🧡

An exciting opportunity has suddenly become available for a resident vet here in beautiful Sangklaburi.

‘Sangklaburi town, on the Burmese border is surrounded by stunning mountains, national parks, waterfalls & rivers.

With a Thai, Burmese, Karen & Mon population, the rich cultural diversity & scenic backdrops are what make this beautiful town unique.

Our animal sanctuary was founded in 2007 & we opened our clinic in 2012. We ask most clients for a donation but do not charge them for our service, as most don’t have the funds.

We see many ailments- tick & flea borne issues, scabies, distemper, parvovirus, cancers, pyometra’s,
FeLV, FIV, human inflicted injuries ranging from machete wounds, poisonings, gun shot wounds & car & motorbike accidents are all common. We also conduct regular sterilising & vaccination programs.

Our sanctuary is currently home to 70 dogs, 15 cats, 2 monkeys & a small number of rabbits, birds & turtles. We treat any animal in need at our clinic & sometimes in situ, but the most common patients we see are dogs & cats as there is a huge population, both owned & feral.

You will work with a small number of dedicated staff, volunteers, a manager & a full time care assistant
manager who is proficient in some vet nursing roles, having assisted vets for 11 years now. If you really
want to make a difference & challenge yourself, our clinic is the place for you.’

🥳 SUCCESS at Pizza Express!! 🍕🥳

We raised a whopping £5,422 at our joint fundraiser with Greek Animal Rescue- that’s an amazing £2,711 each!

Thank you to everyone who came and made this event a success. Thanks to your generosity, we can help hundreds of animals!

Huge thanks as always to PizzaExpress and to Arek at Millie Story for all his efforts. It is Arek who organises these events- without him, this event could not happen. He even makes time each year to handmake many beautiful bags and purses to sell as well! Please check out his stuff if you don’t know it already!

Another massive thank you to Laura and Al at Greek Animal Rescue for all that you do to help us and for letting us join forces once again. It was good to meet David and Paul from Animal Action Greece too. They are working with Greek Animal Rescue this year.

And last but definitely not least- enormous thanks to the hugely talented musicians Alex Hutton, Helena Debono, Louise Golbey, Will Gibson, Saleem Raman who all performed for free for us to support the animals! Please check out their music and give them a follow!

We are pleased to say that ‘Newday’ has been adopted! 🧡

Do you remember Newday Noodles? The kitten who we rescued from underneath a pile of rubble? Here’s a reminder of the rescue: https://fb.watch/ohF14fqIDY/?mibextid=WC7FNe

Newday is now living with this beautiful family- a Mum, Grandmother and daughter. 🧡

After beginning a new adoption drive in Thailand, where we offer a lifetime of free veterinary care, we have successfully found 2 fantastic homes.

We are so happy that Newday has found a loving home in Sangklaburi. That means that we will be able to see him sometimes too! 🧡

Thanks to this teacher from a local school, we have been donated some drips. 🧡

We use a lot of drips here- especially as it is so hot. Animals can often die from dehydration alone without our help.

🧡🐱 ADOPTED 🐱🧡

We are pleased to say that ‘Cleo’ and ‘Patra’ have been adopted! 🧡

We have begun a new adoption drive in Thailand, as sadly, costs for adopting one of our animals abroad has risen substantially. We only charge adopters for the costs we incur for sending animals abroad, but sadly these costs are now too high for most people.

We are so happy that Cleo and Patra have found a loving home in Sangklaburi. That means that we will be able to see them sometimes too! 🧡

In 11 months we sterilised 670 animals! 🧡

Congratulations and thanks to vet Syed, Song and all our dedicated staff at TAS.

Dr Syed and the TAS team successfully sterilised 670 animals in 11 months (November to October) since Dr Syed began working at our clinic and sanctuary. This tally does not include the many other life saving surgeries that have been performed.

Here are just some of the wonderful pictures we have of their work.

We could not have done any of this without our sponsors and donors. Thank you so much for your support! 💛

We are always struggling financially. There are many ways to help- by fundraising, donating, sponsoring one of our animals, adopting, fostering, volunteering or just sharing our posts and our news.

Please do consider setting up a monthly donation if you can, however small it is.

🐶 Update on Pippo the puppy 🐶

There is a bit of hope although there sadly isn’t an operation available for his back. The surgeon said that with strong steroids and given that Pippo is so young, there may be a chance that he will regain some use of his back legs.

On Thursday, he will be able to have the operation to fix his hernia. When that wound has healed and after we’ve checked that his blood and liver are strong enough, we will start the steroids.

Fingers and paws crossed for this little boy and thanks again to everyone who has donated 🧡🐾

🙏🏻 Huge thanks 🙏🏻

Thanks to everyone who donated to the puppy’s vet care. We raised a fantastic £249.28! ($304 US)

After the cost of his x-ray and ultrasound, and pending stomach operation, we still have money left for his next vet visit which will be on Monday to see about his back.

We will be driving him to a specialist vet which is 5 hours away to find out if they can do anything for his spine and to ask when he will be strong enough for his stomach operation.

Didi has named this little boy Pippo! Pippo sleeps in her bedroom, so he is getting lots of love and care. Pippo was so afraid when he first came in and would tremble in fear. Now, he feels safe and loved. 🧡

Fingers and toes crossed for him for Monday! We will let you know how it goes.🤞🏻

Meet the Team! 🧡 Part 2!

For those of you who don't know him, this is Song- our Sanctuary Manager, who has been with us for 11 years now! 🧡

Song really does everything at the sanctuary- dog walking, cleaning, building, repair work, animal care and treatment. We believe that there is nothing that he can’t do!

He is great at catching dogs with a tranquilliser and he has learnt so much from vets to be able to treat animals when necessary, assist during operations and also transport animals to the 'local' vet (4 hours away by car) for things such as x-rays as we cannot do them here.

Thank you Song! We really don’t know what we would do without you! 🙏🏻🧡

So, sadly our little emergency pup has had an ultrasound and X-ray, which has shown that he has a broken back and something wrong with his stomach.

He has been fitted with a urine catheter. He’s too weak now, so they cannot operate yet on his stomach. We are going to drive him to a larger vet facility to see if they can operate on his back as well. So far his vet bill has cost us 6000 baht (£136/ $165 US)

We really do run on a shoestring and can’t afford this vet bill. Sadly, our monthly costs always far exceed donations as it is.

Anyone who can spare any money at all, please donate and clearly mark it as ‘puppy’ so that we know what the donation is for.

This little puppy came in late on Saturday night as an emergency. He is safe now.🧡

Whilst a man was playing football, he heard a dog yelping. He followed the sound to this little puppy lying on the ground with his intestines protruding from his stomach.

We were closed for the night and were not due to open until the next day- Sunday at 8am. The man who found the puppy was desperate to save him and willing to drive for 1 hour to get to us from his remote village. 🧡

Tia was at the sanctuary on night watch (off duty but sleeping on site) He offered to help, so the man made the long journey to get to us and left the puppy in Tia’s hands. Tia cleaned the wound, administered first aid and made the puppy stable and comfortable.

The following day was supposed to be Vet Syed’s day off, yet he administered medications, cleaned the wound and stitched it up. Then Sadhana made a place for the puppy to rest and eat, whilst Didi gave him lots of love, cuddles, food and water.

It’s amazing and humbling to see so much care, from so many hands, for one little puppy in the middle of the night! We are so grateful to all of our staff who work so hard and are still willing to give up their free time to save an animal.

We just have to think of a name for him now! Any suggestions?!

Thanks so much to Cats Protection for letting us join their fundraiser. We raised £80.50 which is fantastic for just 2 hours work! It’s £80.50 that we wouldn’t have had and it has helped us spread the word about our project too!

In Thailand £80 goes a long way as you can see!

£1 for us to feed a street dog for 1 week,
£3.50 for 1 Rabies vaccine,
£5 to sponsor a dog for 2 weeks,
£6 for one combination vaccine (protecting a dog from 5 diseases including Parvovirus and Distemper)
£10 to sponsor a dog for 1 month,
£20 for a tick, flea and Scabies tablet, protecting a dog for 3 months)

Thank you too to the following people for making things for us to sell! Our amazing trustee Nikki for making our TAS hats and t-shirts, bamboo straws and bags and eco friendly soaps, Maureen and friends for handknitting hats, scarves and baby clothes and to Kathryns marvellous Dad for the handmade cards!

🧡Meet the Team, part 1!🧡

🧡Didi Anuraga- Co-Founder & Manager🧡

Didi came to Thailand as a Neo Humanist Foundation volunteer in 1989 & has dedicated her life ever since to helping poor people, Burmese refugees, children & animals in need.🧡

Since 1989, Didi worked in 2 children’s homes & in 2005, she founded Tonrak School which has over 250 students from kindergarten to junior high.🧡

From the beginning, Didi took in stray animals and saw much suffering on the streets, so in 2007, she got funding from the Humane Society to feed the local street dogs which our founder Gemma began to help with.🧡

Didi offered Gemma some land to start a rescue centre for suffering street dogs of the area. It is thanks to this offer that Thai Animal Sanctuary was born- the first & only lifeline for animals in this area, now in its 16th year.🧡
