Over 400 dogs showed up and we eventually ran out of vaccines 💉🦮

In honour of World Rabies Day the team went to a local school to educate children on the clinical signs of rabies in dogs and what do to if you are bitten 🐶💉

We also held a free vaccination clinic where we successfully vaccinated 100 dogs against rabies 💪🏼🐾 .tz

We are proud to be nominated for the Golden Star Award ⭐️

Congratulations to nominee Evarest Maguo. He has been nominated for his lifetime of service to the animals of Tanzania.

To vote for him, share this photo and tell us why you think he deserves to be this year's Golden Star. Don't forget to follow Worldwide Vets to keep up to date with the award.

His nominee says “Evarest Maguo has been a practicing veterinarian for nearly 30 years with a mobile and clinic practice in Arusha, Tanzania. He is co-founder of PAWS, the Protection of Animal Welfare Society and a founding member of the Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals. He has worked with the Meru Animal Welfare Organization, a non-profit animal-welfare organization working in the Meru region of Tanzania.

Dr.Maguo translated the Tanzanian Animal Welfare Act from English to Swahili. I am nominating Dr. Evarest Maguo for the Worldwide Vets Golden Star award because I believe he is the living
embodiment of what it means to go “above and beyond for ALL animals especially those in need and provides great friendship and support for everyone”.

Evarest Maguo says:

I am born into a livestock keeping family. Since I was young, I used to take care of animals with my grandfather, so from there I started building up interest in veterinary…I am born to be a vet and this is my life…. To date, all in all, my daily activities as a practitioner am dealing with mobile clinics, house calls, outreach programs, educational program in animal welfare in schools, community, free rabies mass vaccinations in dogs and cats, free donkey clinics, seminars, free spay and neuter programs in dogs and cats , environment conservation, sustainable organic agriculture, receiving volunteers from outside the country from all over the word, vet internships foreign and local students alike.

Why animal welfare? Because in my country there is still a lot of animal mistreatments and abuse so I have decided to take the lead of speaking on behalf of the speechless suffering animals about their five freedoms of animal welfare. Also, I have a dog shelter where we have stray and homeless suffering dogs where we keep them and we invite people to adopt and find new homes, but also spay neuter and release program. Am happy to be nominated for the Golden award and it is my hope that I deserve to be the winner because this is my life and my dream is to change the community from mistreating animals like dogs and donkeys”.

Meet Tanzie 🐶
Tanzie is the daughter of Nala and was born at our shelter. She is the last remaining puppy from her litter and is available for adoption 🏠

Tanzie is almost 2 years old and very friendly and social 🐾

Lily is 2 years old and was dropped at the shelter gate one morning with her 4 puppies whom have all been adopted.

Lily is friendly and looking for a new and loving home 🏠

Meet 3 year old Nala 🐶

Nala was brought to us while pregnant and gave birth to 5 puppies from which 4 were adopted. The last puppy Tanzie, lives with her at the shelter and both are very friendly and social dogs.

Nala was recently operated from an hernia and is still in recovery but her and Tanzie are both available for adoption! 🐾🏡
