Maintaining lesson horses can sometimes be a challenge. This summer our youngest lesson horse Teddy has been having intermittent lameness. After extensive x-rays and vetting we have a plan for him of some special shoes and possibly injections. We have started with shoes and so far he seems more comfortable. Now the trick is to get the shoes to stay on his feet.

Last weekend, we went to our last show of the season at Lake Elmo, MN. The horses had a great last outing. We had never been to the show before so we didn't know what to expect. There was a dog show and a flea market happening at the same time as the horse show, so there was a lot going on. The horses took it all in stride and did very well with everything going on. It is so nice to see how well the young horses have matured this year with showing. Ghazi won his second level division on Saturday against some stiff competition. Each day, the horses improved their scores from the previous tests by 3 or more points. I am very proud of how they all did. With 3 rings going on and horses in all levels, mom and I had to be very organized to keep everything straight and going smoothly. Now we turn our attention to fall homework!

I was able to head to Bismark a couple weeks ago to attend an Amy Miller clinic. She is from California and still actively competes on the dressage and arabian circuit. We have had the privilege of attending clinics from her in the past and absolutely love her. She is able to pick things out very quickly that need work and help identify issues you didn't even know where there. It was great to have her help me with the three competition horses before our last show of the season. One of the horses Amy hadn't seen for a while and she couldn't believe how grown up he was now. Thanks to our friends at Prairie Rose Training Center Dressage for putting on a wonderful clinic. We can't wait for the fall one!

Little man Ritz has had a lot of the summer off due to my busy schedule. But I had extra time last week, and he was such a gentleman to ride. Can't wait to see if he is ready to ride this fall after getting some xrays of his legs done.
