Because this is our first day back giving lessons, I’d like to go over some points for our new clients.

📃 Everyone that participates in any Luna’s Equestrian Services activity (not just riding) will have to sign a liability waiver. This legally releases Luna’s Equestrian Services and the property owner from all responsibility regarding any injury, illness, property damage, or death incurred while on the premises. Liability releases are common practice in the Equine Industry and if you decline to sign one you will be es**rted off the property. If you would like to review the release before you arrive please message the page and we will email it to you.

🪖 Helmets ⛑️ All students under the age of 18 are required to wear an equestrian riding helmet. One can be provided to you if you’d like, but please be aware that these helmets are worn by multiple riders. If you choose to purchase your own, it MUST BE an equestrian helmet. Bicycle helmets (or helmets intended for any other sport for that matter) are not rated for a fall from a horse! If you are wearing a helmet that is intended for anything other than equestrian sports you are not taking proper precautions. Helmets do expire, please keep an eye on your helmet’s expiration date. Helmets should be replaced after a fall regardless of if it has any visual damage.

🐕 Dogs 🐕 Although we love our canine friends, please leave them at home or in your vehicle while on the property.

🐎 The property where lessons are held is a boarding facility. Therefore other people own horses that live there. Do not feed or touch the other horses. The facility is not open to the public. At no time are family members/students authorized to wander the facility without an es**rt.

For the month of April we’ll be running a
💜💜💜Month of the Military Child💜💜💜 special. Riding lessons will be discounted for children of military members. If your military child has a birthday at the end of this month we can work a deal for a pony party as well. We have base access.

The military community is near and dear to our hearts being active duty veterans/Air Guard memebers. We love to give back to the military community when we can and we know how hard it can be for kids who have recently PCS’d to get involved in the community. Horses are very therapeutic and we have a couple that love to get attention. We also haul to local equestrian events and students are welcome to tag along this year!

Roxi is gearing up for lessons to start!

Yesterday she had her teeth floated. Horses need their teeth floated or at least checked annually for sharp points and uneven wear patterns. Their teeth grow continuously for most of their life. Thankfully Roxi has great teeth and always get compliments from the vet! It’s all that hay she eats to keep them worn down😉

Roxi also got a Bemer treatment. Bemer therapy uses a specific waveform of pulsed electromagnetic field to improve microcirculation. It helps heal and prevent injury. It is also a very relaxing treatment. When Roxi is giving lessons consistently she gets bemered more frequently.

Our competition schedule dictates what weekends we will be able to give lessons so weekend availabilities are completely random! I’ll post the upcoming month’s weekend availabilities the last week of every month.

We’re back in Abilene and will be starting riding lessons on April 23rd! 🐎

I offer 30 minute lessons for ages 4-6 and hour long sessions for ages 7+. My after school slots fill quickly and cannot be held without a deposit. We can work with many different homeschool schedules, please message the page or text 325-386-0701 to schedule.

My goal as a riding instructor is to foster a love of horses in my students through communication and horsemanship. Students will learn about caring for equines and much more than just how to ride. Please visit the About page for more information about the Luna program! I strongly recommend weekly lessons for people that are looking to strengthen their riding skills. There is a discount for those who make a commitment to lessons once a week on a monthly basis. For students who make a weekly commitment, there are opportunities to compete locally on my horses.

1 hour sessions: $65 ($200 if you pay for 4 at once)

30 minute sessions: $45 ($120 if you pay for 4 at once)

We’re offering one hour of rides for $150 (normally $225). The only requirement is the event must be located in Seminole.

For venues within 40 miles of zip code 79602:
1 Hour - $225
1.5 Hours - $275

If your venue is further than 40 miles from 79602 or you expect to have over 25 riders message the page for custom pricing.

Non-Refundable Booking Fee (comes off of the total price once you pay in full) - $50

Add On:
“Decorate the Pony” activity - $25

We travel to you! It is your responsibility to check with your venue and make sure that they allow horses. If we are turned away due to the venue not allowing horses you will still be charged.

Private 1 hour lesson - $65
Private 30 minute lesson - $45
Group lessons (never more than 4 riders at a time) - $40
If you buy 4 lessons at once you will receive a discount. The amount for 4 hour long lessons is $200. The amount for 4 30 minute lessons is $120.

The Luna program is primarily geared towards the true beginner. Even if you’ve never touched a horse before, we can start you and get you comfortable on horseback! We want to introduce as many people as possible to this incredible industry.

The kids, my friends, is what the show world is missing... and it makes me sad to say that I have had conversations with several trainers this year and have heard:
▪︎ I won't taking the zero experience beginners anymore.
▪︎ I won't be doing the lessons for the kids that don't have interest in showing
▪︎ I have to have serious commitment from Child and Parent to take on new students
And several more, and this makes me so sad.

This end of the industry will die without youth coming in to continue its future, and if as trainers we are not willing to teach the next generation, then how do we expect them to want to do it, or even know it exists.

I Love the kids I have the opportunity to work with, and am SO excited that my lesson schedule for the fall is pretty much full, all with new kiddos wanting to learn to ride and work with horses.

No, they all won't join the show world right now, or ever, and that is perfectly fine by me. I am still teaching them the love of horses and the art of riding, and that is how this industry will stay alive! and you never know, one of them might fall in love with showing along the way 😊

MEET THE HORSES 🐴

“Juarez” is a miniature gelding. He is our most recent auction purchase. Juarez was not fed properly when we got him and we assume by how aggressive he was when he arrived, that he has not had the kindest interactions with humans in the past. He is getting better both physically and mentally everyday. He is loaded with sass and does not know he is tiny! The first two photos are of the day he arrived. The next two photos were taken a few weeks ago.

“Juice”🧃has only recently started packing around a few kids during their lessons. He has an affectionate, goofy personality but is a big horse and can be intimidating to some of the smaller riders. Juice will start taking on more advanced students in the future.

MEET THE HORSES 🐴

I’d like to introduce the glue of our program, “Roxi”. Roxi is the horse that inspired the creation of Luna’s Equestrian Services. This mare has been with us since 2010. She has done a little bit of everything, from speed events to teaching a class of military members how to ride. Her career started out in the show pen and was ended with a tendon injury. She has since given over 65 students their first ride. Roxi loves being the center of attention. As most of her students will tell you, Roxi is always looking for her next snack and her favorite speed is slow. She’s a staple in the program and a favorite!

ABOUT US

McKenzie has been buying horses at auction and out of rescue situations of all types for years. Luna was the name of McKenzie’s first auction horse. Luna was purchased in 2010 through a livestock auction where slaughterhouse shippers frequently purchase stock. Many horses at these types of auctions are abused, starved, or completely untouched by humans. Luna was sold for a whopping $25 at auction. She was the horse that ignited McKenzie’s love of the underdog. Luna is now known as “Roxi” (pictured).

Luna’s Equestrian Services was founded with the goal of giving horses in need a second chance while inspiring the industry’s next generation of horsemen/women. Horses in the Luna program come from various auctions across the U.S. They've been rehabbed with the goal of rehoming and giving more auction horses a fresh start. Students in the Luna program benefit from working with such horses as they require a level of self-awareness and communication that is unique to the bond between human and equine.

My goal is to introduce people of all ages to horses and foster a lifelong love of equines. I teach English and western, private and semi-private lessons on your horse or mine.
