Washington County Sheriff's Office CC Porter Animal Shelter is home to many loving and deserving animals that are in need of a loving family. Cats and Dogs seeking their "forever home" are just a click away!

WE NEED YOUR HELP. We have received so many dogs in the last couple of days, and are beyond our capacity. PLEASE consider adopting one of these deserving animals - they need a home and they need love.

We are open Friday from 10am-4pm and will also be open Saturday from 10am-3pm. The adoption fee is $25, and other fees will be waived. We also have kitties in need of homes as well.

Please come by and check out our animals in need of forever homes (please don't call, as we are often helping people or animals in the shelter). You won't be sorry in offering them a second chance at a loving family.

Out of an abundance of caution the shelter will be closed until July 2nd due to a parvo outbreak. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone's cooperation and understanding.

For the next week or until further notice, the animal shelter will not be taking in any dogs or adopting out any dogs in an effort to maintain a clean and healthy animal shelter. We apologize for any inconvenience, but hope to be back to regular intake and adoptions soon.

Paxton is a male Terrier (?) Mix maybe 4 to 5 months old. He is super sweet and friendly. He has gotten lost and in hopes that owner will find him. If not, he will be available for adoption on November 1st.

Maverick and Shadow ran away tonight. Neither has a name tag. They’re about 8 months old. Please share. One has a light blue harness and other has a purple.

She is missing from Exit 14 area in Abingdon. Thank you. The Dogs name is Dolly, she is a 1 year old Female purebred Miniature Schnauzer, Salt and Pepper in color, weighs about 10-15 pounds. She was not wearing a collar due to chewing it off prior to getting out of the house. My sister thinks someone left the door open and she got out. She is a sweet dog and will not bite but she is skiddish of strangers and will run if approached but she does loves car rides and will jump into a car. Dolly is very sentimental to my sister, she got her right after her grandmother died and Dolly has been her emotional support dog since. Of anyone sees or has her please message or call the shelter

The Washington County C C Porter Animal Shelter will be doing cat intake by appointments. This will hopefully help us be able to accommodate more of our county residents.

The appointments will be days scheduled, not necessarily times. There is an overabundance of cats coming in, so we are hoping this may help some of the rejection people are getting when they bring cats in
