EDIT* EVENT POSTPOSED DUE TO HEAT*

Howdy y'all our July event is full but we are still taking names for the wait list! For those of you attending we will be sending out a reminder email next week with all the details.

We have secured Stephanie Davis as our "obstacle master" and will be meeting at Cradle K saddled, ready to ride (or work from the ground) at 9am. Stephanie will be available from 9-11am followed by open practice time. Facility will remain open until 4pm.

Practicing obstacles with your horse and working through trouble spots helps build confidence and trust, and thus a better relationship with your horse. This is going to be a wonderful environment to learn and we can't wait to see everyone!

🍇 JUNE 2023 EVENT: RIDE THROUGH THE VINEYARDS 🍇

Flat, wide dirt roads through the vineyards makes this the perfect place to take your older or soft footed horses that couldn't normally handle rough footing or lots of hills like a normal trail ride!

The plan is to haul in to Kelli's house after 9am and be ready to ride out at 10am while it's still cooler. Please wear a helmet if you have one and wear sun protection. We will be walking only so saddle bags with water is encouraged. There is no time stipulations and we can go as long or as short as the group feels.

Afterwards you can haul back home or stay a while and join us for some local winetasting at any of the three wineries neighboring Kelli's property: Prie, Klinker Brick, and Stonum.

REQUIREMENTS: Please no stallions, green horses, or those not friendly around other horses (safety is our priority!) No ponying other horses and only one horse per rider. You are of course welcome to join us on foot if you'd prefer to walk the vineyards or don't have a horse available. Must be a WCCD member (the liability release you signed is good for the whole year) and haul-in cost is $10 per rider (please bring cash or check). Membership is super easy and affordable: to get your 2023 membership please visit our website at https://winecountrycowboydressage.com/membership

If you're already a member and would like to attend, please RSVP by sending us a Facebook message or email at [email protected].

Howdy everyone! We took a short hiatus to let the weather finish doing its thing but we're back and ready to ride! Also WE ARE LOOKING for someone to help oversee Membership and Volunteers for the club!

Only requirements are must be passionate about sharing the love for good horsemanship and peopleship with others, and available for a monthly Zoom call. You'll have mostly free rein (no pun intended) to manage this position at your discretion.

If you'd like to be involved in another way we have some amazing committees that make this club possible:

🔷 Show Committee (led by Sherrill Shotigian)
🔶 Finance Committee (led by Dana Goodman)
🔷 Social Media and Marketing (managed by Nicole Kochanowski)

If you'd like to hear more about any of the opportunities above, please FB message or email us at [email protected]. Thank you to all who have been involved so far and have worked their tails off to get the ball rolling. Starting a club and LLC from scratch is NOT easy, and WCCD would certainly not be possible without this village. 🥰

WCCD Member Testimony by Stephanie Van Ness:

"I am fortunate enough to have met Lyn through starting my horse journey at Sliding J ranch. Through my internship with Jenny Sherbo in the Future Horseman Foundation, I met everyone at the ranch and built relationships. Lyn was someone that welcomed me from day 1 and always offered help when I needed it and supported me through learning to ride.

It wasn’t really until I worked for Lyn for a summer that I really realized what Cowboy Dressage was and how interested I became in it. It just looked like such a fun thing with such a welcoming environment that I was immediately drawn to it. Once I tried it, I saw just how fun and challenging it was and how much my horse liked doing it. I have not met a single person in Cowboy Dressage that has not been kind, supportive, and encouraging. I was welcomed with open arms from the beginning and I could not think of a better group of horse people. I love that it is challenging and fun, with so many options for everyone.

I cannot say enough about how welcoming this community is to people from all walks of life. The show environment is also so calm and easy going which is great for my confidence as well as my horse’s. Through Lyn and my wonderful Sliding J horse family, Cowboy Dressage has become a huge part of my riding journey so far and I can’t wait for all that the future holds for my horse and I within Cowboy Dressage."

Her Mission statement for WCCD:
"Here at Wine Country Cowboy Dressage, we strive to practice horsemanship, welcome everyone, and most importantly have fun."

WCCD Member Spotlight: Sherrill Shotigian-Ross

"Five years ago I met Lyn Ringrose Moe at the Cowboy Dressage booth at Horse Expo. During our conversation, Lyn and I realized that I would be a perfect fit for Cowboy Dressage with their emphasis on soft feel and partnership and my extensive background in Natural Horsemanship. I have devoted my life to helping both horses and humans achieve the same amazing partnerships as in Cowboy Dressage. The methodologies that I use teach humans to read horses and to build strong, trusting, relationships. This new journey into Cowboy Dressage has allowed me to put my principles to purpose! I am delighted to have been endorsed by Lyn, Garn, Deb, and Eitan as a clinician and to be showing my horses again in a world where Soft Feel is the number one focus."

Welcome to Wine Country Cowboy Dressage!
What started as an idea between two horse-crazy friends and a bottle of wine quickly grew to an entire community of kind and ambitious horsemen and women.

What's the goal of the club? To summarize our mission statement: we want to improve the relationship with our horses (and horsemanship in general) while having as much fun as possible. This means putting on a variety of events: Cowboy Dressage shows, clinics, educational seminars, obstacle practices, open court "playdays", fun nights out, and so much more.

But WCCD isn't just a riding club, it's a community. We understand that everyone is at a different place in their horse (and life) journey, and we see that diversity as strength. No matter what it is we do, horse related or not, we do it with kindness and integrity.

Horses are the excuse; desire for community is the reason. No matter who you are, where you came from, or what you ride (if you ride at all), you are welcome here. We are based in the greater Sacramento area but have friends and members all over the world, so distance is no excuse!

Please like, follow, and invite others to our page to stay in the loop about all of our fun and exciting events, and visit our website at www.winecountrycowboydressage.com to learn more.

Where kindness is key and all are welcome.
