Compassionate Care Mobile Vet, LLC

Compassionate Care Mobile Vet, LLC Dr. Amanda Swaim will come to your house to examine and treat your fur-babies. Likewise, it reduces stress on your dog/cat in numerous ways.

This will provide owners with convenience, less stress and permits your next to your pet while it gets treated. Compassionate Care Mobile Vet is here to serve your pet for any need necessary, while providing convenience for owners, and also making the treatment of pet as stress free as possible. Our goal is to provide the best medical treatment for your pet, while being beneficial for owners, and

also providing their pets with a more pleasurable experience than having to go to a clinic. Dr. Amanda Swaim believes in practicing the best and most up to date medicine possible, while providing pet owners with knowledge to give their pet the best quality, as well as longevity of life. She is very thorough with her examinations, explains different treatment methods to owners, and is willing to answer any question you may have. She has a firm belief in preventing the preventable, as these are no longer pets, but are now members of our families. She strives to catch different abnormalities, breed predispositions and diagnoses, like diabetes, as soon as possible. The earlier a condition is caught, placing a pet on a certain medication, supplement and/or certain diet can greatly impact the future livelihood of pets or even reverse some conditions. She believes that examining a patient, treating the pet and educating the owner cannot feasibly be done in 15 minutes. One area she feels that the veterinarian profession needs improvement is public education. She gives information to owners that pertains to a condition their pet has, so owners know what normal for their pet, abnormal signs to watch out for, how to proceed with treatment, and about the pet's prognosis. She clarifies why she recommends procedures such as spays, neuters, dental cleanings and use of preventatives because it all pertains to the overall health of the pet. There i information out there, that is not true, that owners get from breeders, the internet, etc. Educating owners about certain recommendations is free knowledge that can add years to their pet's life. When graduating Louisiana School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Swaim made a personal oath to treat every pet as she would want her own to be treated, and she follows that. As her clinic name signifies, her focus is aimed at the passion she has for being a veterinarian. For the best quality of care for your pet, referrals may be made. Even in the veterinarian field, there are specialist available for extenuating circumstances, and Dr. Swaim believes in putting pets in the best hands possible when situations arise. During the beginning of the Corona Pandemic, Dr. Swaim opened the first mobile veterinary clinic that has tremendously assisted pet owners, as well as their pets they have so much love for. Owners who needed their pets treated but did not feel safe going out amongst other individuals were kept safe. To those that did not feel comfortable being separated from their pet, as they provided comfort to them as they were anxious, were able to still be with them and not having to wait out it their cars, as owners were not allowed in clinics. Owners were able to speak to Dr. Swaim face to face instead of over a phone to have any questions they had answered, and to have complete clarification with. It also brought along other perks to owners by allowing them to have more time with the convivence Dr. Swaim coming to them and not have the hassle of fighting to get their dog in their car. Likewise, becoming a mobile veterinarian was more beneficial to the pets. Treating dogs and cats in their everyday environment created an enormous impact on a pet's emotional experience. Dr. Swaim aimed at creating the best pet-friendly environment, and her going to the pet's home took the pet-friendly experience to a completely different level. Cats do not have to be placed in carriers and packed into a clinic or sit in a waiting room next to a barking dog. It is beneficial to dogs who struggle to getting in and out of vehicles due to conditions such as arthritis. Likewise, dogs that get sick on the ride to the clinic or gets nervous in the car is no longer problematic. Furthermore, the anxiousness of a dog is decreased as they do not have to encounter all the different smells where other pets had been prior, nor sit in distress under their owner's legs as they hear the barks of the dogs in the back. Opening her own mobile clinic has allowed Dr. Swaim to practice how she believes in, while also helping owners and their pets have a completely different experience than having to go into a clinic to receive treatment.

Thank you all for your support and understanding with me making the decision that I had to make. I know many of you are waiting for your pet’s records. Please know that I am getting them to each of you at my earliest convenience. I miss you all! I am doing routine surgeries (spays, neuters, dentals), and I am also performing unexpected surgeries, if anyone would like their pet spayed or neutered, please private message me, and I can make it possible without you having to drive to Bogalusa. A couple of days ago, I preformed an emergency surgery on a day that had an obstruction in it’s intestinal tract. I’m blessed to say that the surgery went smoothly, and the dog is back to her normal self. Again, if you need anything please do not hesitate to contact me!

Many of you wanted to know where I am heading, and I wanted to be respectful and make sure the staff knew I would be joining their team first. Today I was able to meet most of them, and I am happy to announce that I will be the sole veterinarian of Animal Clinic of Bogalusa and will be running the clinic for another veterinarian who already owns another clinic. It may be a little drive, but I would love to see a familiar face every now and then. Also, those of you who kept beginning me to open an area for surgery, here you go! Three of the staff members have been there over 10 years, which says a great deal. I was impressed to say the least, and I could tell just by observing that they believe in practice the best medicine possible as well! I am excited to be back into surgery, having a set schedule, working with staff members that care, and taking on this new endeavor!

***Closure of Compassionate Care Mobile Vet, LLC***
It is with mixed emotions to inform you all that on August 15, 2022, I will no longer be a mobile veterinarian or the business owner of Compassionate Care Mobile Vet, LLC. I hope that each of you can respect my decision, as it was a tough one. If you have an appointment scheduled with me, I will be contacting you to set up a day and time that is convenient for you. If there is anything you have questions or concerns about with your “best friend”, “member of your family”, or “fur-baby” please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected].

***Heat Stroke Tips***
It’s that time of the year where the temperatures are growing higher by the day. For the safety of your pets, and letting this heat be more comfortable for them here are some helpful tips.

~If you pet is strictly outdoors, make sure that there is access to shade and water at all times.

~Before walking your pet, touch the pavement with your hand to access the temperature. If it is hot to the touch, it is best not to walk your pet on this area or chose a different time of the day when the conditions are cooler. This will prevent your dog from getting burns on the bottom of their feet.

~If you have a pet that very active, make sure that they are allowing themselves time to catch their breath and cool off.

~Put something that provides coolness to your pet while they are outside. You may be surprised how much fun they will get out of a sprinkler or a plastic pool filled with water.

Let’s all enjoy this bright sunshine while making sure our pets are protected!

I think my pet owners know me too well, and they definitely make me feel special! I love what I do, I’m blessed by such appreciative pet owners/friends, and that is a big enough gift. You probably all know what I fill them up with. (it’s not adult beverages for those who catch me at the end of a busy day).

If your fur-baby has an emergency while our clinic is closed, please get them to the closest veterinarian clinic. For after-hour emergencies, we recommend bringing your pet to Sherwood South Animal Hospital who can be at (225) 293-6440.

The other day, someone asked why they have not seen any pictures with the pets that I treat, as they loved looking at all the different ones I get the pleasure of taking care of. Meet Chloe and Jayda, two extremely sweet girls, who are each glued to their moms. They both have captured my heart!
