Here at PK9, we are all about helping our community in any way we can. We are gearing towards helping shelter animals receive necessary training to ensure a good home come 2026! We offer free training to pets at risk of rehoming or surrendering to shelters, and many more resources!🤩

Here we have a very special girl who's looking for her forever person. In order to increase her odds of not ending up in a shelter, we have a special once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we are offering FREE training FOR LIFE on this girlie🥰 That's easily a $7,000+ value for FREE😱

Her owner had unfortunate circumstances arise, and felt she couldn't fulfill the dog's needs, so she's exhausting all her options to help her furbaby out😇

Here's a little bit about her story: She's a black lab mixed dog. We think possibly some kind of hound, but not sure. She’s almost 4 years old. Spayed and vaccinated. Looking for someone very experienced with dogs. A trainer would be a plus. She has very high anxiety. We can’t take her places due to her anxiety. She doesn’t like car rides. She’s not leashed trained. We’ve tried taking her places she just cries and has extreme anxiety. We have tried medications, and they don’t seem do much. We aren’t home during the day due to work so she’s home alone a lot and we just don’t have the time for her that she deserves, or the knowledge to help her thrive more.
She is such a sweetheart and super affectionate. She loves cuddles. She gets along with house cats and other dogs. She is good around little kids. Has never been aggressive. A fenced yard would be amazing for her to run around.
She does great in her kennel. She doesn’t chew on stuff or anything like that. Her biggest flaws are her anxiety, scared on car rides, and not leashed trained. We aren’t going to just rehome her to anyone. This is a gut wrenching and extremely hard thing to do but I do feel it’s what’s best for her so she can have a better life. She doesn’t have a great one now with the limitations. It’s unfair. We will not surrender her to a shelter.

Please send us a direct message for any questions or inquiries about this girl.

When you see a service dog team, especially as an employee working, do not interact with someone’s dog!

Perfect example of when you should “mind your business”🙅🏽‍♀️

It’s all about finding the right crew😂

04/18/2024

It’s always the ones with the untrained, out of control, and obnoxious dogs that freak out on others. Training my dog to ignore your explosive dogs doesn’t mean I’m going out of my way to disturb your peace and intentionally making your dogs react. That’s completely different and warrants a good conversation. But this is simply Haylee training their service dog puppy to observe their surroundings instead of reacting.

I don’t find this rude at all!

My partner would find me doing this as very rude, but I don’t care how I come across when it comes to protecting my dogs and/or my client’s pets.

Too many people have let their dogs be off leash or drag them and have attacked Winston. I never let dogs meet, working or not! Unless I have personally trained with the dog, I will NOT let them meet my dog. I cannot risk my life line!

How can I make it any more clearer!

Too many people buy vests and slap “service dog” on it when they’re walking around with a pet AND they’re not disabled.

Legitimate service dogs are $15k-$65k, sometimes more, fully trained. Owner trained service dogs usually cost from $5k-$20k, or more. It’s very common for handlers to purchase a dog from an ethical breeder, sometimes spending upwards of $5,000, just for the dog to ensure good health, joints, and longevity.

Faking a service dog costs anywhere from $10k-$150k with possibility of prison time and harsher punishment. If your dog is reactive and disrupts a team working, and that service dog misses an alert, you will be held responsible for any injuries, or death, if it occurs. If your dog is also aggressive to the public, meaning other dogs, people, kids, animals, your dog is a liability and a threat.

It’s very obvious these frenchies are emotional support animals (ESA’s) and NOT service animals.

This is the difference.

So true!

So true!

Navigating the world with a guide dog. 🦮

Some information from Guide/Medical Alert Dog In Training - Remy!

🦮 Guide dogs take directional commands from their handlers, indicate change in elevation, indicate and avoid oncoming traffic, navigate around obstacles, and locate objects by name. Guide dogs also use their judgement to assess the height and width of the path they are taking so the person does not bump their head or swipe their sides.

🦮 Guide dogs are trained in Intelligent Disobedience 🦮

An example of Intelligent Disobedience is refusing a command to go forward into the road if there is oncoming traffic or intersecting traffic in the team's path.

🦮 Guide dogs take roughly 18+ months to train and go through very extensive training to be able to work for their handlers. Training must be up kept even when placed!

🦮 Remember it isn’t always easy to tell if someone is blind or visually impaired. The important thing to remember is that the degree of sight loss is different for each visually impaired person. Don’t assume that all partially sighted people are totally blind. Many have some residual vision. 👁️

🦮 When a guide dog is in harness, they need to remain focused on working, Never pet a working dog, as this can distract them from their very important work!!!

“For a handler who is blind or visually impaired, distracting his or her guide dog is the equivalent of the passenger of a car grabbing the steering wheel out of a driver’s hand. “ - Guiding Eyes 🦮

-

We hope Remy will be able to take on the big job of being my guide in the future, until then, he continues to train towards that job when he’s old enough for harness training. 🤍

Every share helps spread education and awareness! 🦮

We would like to formally introduce our newest member of Pawzitive K9’s!

Few things:

⭐️Draco⭐️
⭐️About 5 Months Old⭐️
⭐️Basic Obedience, Leash, and Task Training⭐️
⭐️Future Service Dog (kinda looks like the Great Dane version of Blue the Guide Dog with those colors and eyes🤭)⭐️
⭐️Big Eared Goof!⭐️

His training is coming along great! He first struggled with socializing in the general public, but has since learned to be curious before being reactive. He’s doing a great job, and has come so far.

What do you think of this cutie? 🥰
