Pet waste is f***l matter left behind by pets 💩. When it isn’t picked up, it can be carried away by stormwater flows from streets, sidewalks, trails, yards, and other areas. This runoff can then enter our storm drains and eventually flow into the Rio Grande, causing pollution and health hazards. Let's all do our part to keep our community clean by properly disposing of pet waste!

Why are stormwater discharges from industrial and construction sites important? When it rains, stormwater runs over loose soil and uncovered materials at these sites, picking up pollutants like sediment, chemicals, and debris. This polluted water then flows into water bodies like the Rio Grande without any treatment.

Winter is on its way, and snow could be here soon! ❄️ Make sure to shovel your driveway before the snow begins to melt. When temperatures drop, melted snow can quickly freeze into ice. This isn't just a slipping hazard; the salt used to melt the ice can flow into storm drains and contaminate the Rio Grande.
