Forever my favorite lazy day hack on nice days! 🐕
If you don’t have a fenced yard you can still do this on a tie-out or long leash!
This definitely does not replace exercise - Jedi (the german shepherd) will tell you that he MUCH preferred his long game of fetch today…but it is a great way to burn a little mental energy when you don’t have a ton of time (and you want your dogs tired so you can peacefully watch the Grammys tonight 😜) 🐾❤️
I was on a hike yesterday with Toro, who is a dog-reactive dog. Many reactive dog owners can likely understand the struggles of hiking with a reactive dog because trails are narrow, you don’t have much space to move around triggers and off-leash dogs are rampant.
For the first time ever. A women was coming past me with her dog. I pulled off the trail as much as I could, put Toro in a sit and starting treating him. The other owner tightened up her leash, pulled her treats out and treated her (also reactive dog) as they walked past.
And guess what…neither dog reacted…even slightly to one another. They both walked away having had a positive, quick exposure with another dog.
This REALLY made me think about what every dog owner can be doing to make a safer more enjoyable environment for owners and their dogs.
Important to know the difference! Especially when having kids interact with dogs
Olive has become one of my favorite walking partners over the past couple months. She is always up for a hike, long walk or game of fetch! 🐾❤️
Very good video explaining the differences in dog’s breeds and personalities and how you should always aim to work with them instead of against them!
I may not be fully awake yet…but Olive sure is! ⛅️❤️🐾
Training is rarely about the obedience, but it is ALWAYS about the behavior 👏🤣❤️
Nothing better than a slow-motion puppy run ❤️🤣

Let’s talk about leash training! 🦮🐾
When people hear about my programs they often don’t understand WHY they would need someone to walk their dog for them and how on earth that relates to training ⁉️
1️⃣ Training is best done when integrated into your dogs daily life & when they are able to work in real-world environments. We could meet for 1-hour private sessions but those super set-up sessions only get you so far…your dog needs to be able to transfer their skills to different environments and distractions.
2️⃣ It seems easy at first to get your dog on regular field trips, but most owners really struggle long-term with making this a regular part of their routine.
3️⃣ Your dog NEEDS to get out of the neighborhood, they need to see, smell, and explore new things. Without their needs being met, their training will fall flat.
4️⃣ Training needs maintained. Many people can teach a new skill but few can maintain that skill through the various stages of their dogs life.
Training doesn’t need to be hard, and it certainly does not need to take up your entire day.
Keep it simple. Get your dog out on a good decompression walk. Integrate training into your day to day life.
Most importantly, enjoy your dogs ❤️
