On this Veterans Day, we pause to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and commitment of our men, women, and canine veterans who have stood on the front lines to protect our freedoms and values. Their unwavering dedication and service have preserved our nation’s principles, often at great personal cost.

Today, we extend our deepest gratitude to all the men, women, and canines whose courage and sacrifice have kept us safe and free. Thank you for your service, for defending our way of life, and for exemplifying true heroism 🇺🇸

So many life lessons can be taught by having a dog.

They teach us about love and loss. They come into our lives to teach us about love and they depart to teach us about loss.

They teach us about silent companionship. When we are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can’t get from any other source.

They teach us about forgiveness. We can mess up over and over again but they are always willing to forgive and be there for us. Always.

One of the best things a dog will ever teach you is to “Be Present”. Being present is easy to do but often overlooked. They do it so effortlessly and allow us to do the same.

Training with a dog really lets you achieve a means of communication that is indescribable and unachievable any other way. I wish there was a way to show them how much they mean to us but it’s just simply not possible and maybe that’s the point ❤️

The United States of America celebrates March 13th as National K9 Veterans Day every year. This day honors the services and sacrifices of all the dedicated K9 units who have served since World War II. Thank you to all the loyal K9 Veterans and their handlers for your commitment, bravery, and sacrifice!

K9 dogs have been around ever since 1942, when an organization called Dogs for Defense was founded to train dogs to be scouts and sentries for supply depots. The program also known as “K9 Corps”, was approved by the U.S. Army on March 13, 1942, and the rest is history.

All United States military working dogs and their handlers are trained at the 341st Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Today's military dogs are valued as important members of their military units and even have their own retirement ceremonies, awards and medals and memorial services.
