URGENT CALL TO ACTION 🚨(footage in comments)

Fourteen dogs have no water and a mother dog is trapped on a heavy steel chain...

We recently received a heartbreaking call from a small rescue in Tennessee about fourteen innocent hungry, thirsty, dirty, sick, and imprisoned dogs living on a run-down property and we need help to save them. As you know, the relentless abuse, neglect, and cruelty inflicted upon innocent dogs in the South leaves us at a loss, unable to fathom how this can continue with no long-term solution. It seems never ending and without us and the community, there is no hope.We have cried a lot of tears and sat with bottomless pits in our stomachs as we worked on this horrific case.

One of the two mama dogs is shackled on a heavy-duty steel chain that's padlocked to a metal contraption above her head and her puppies struggle to nurse on her engorged ni***es while she can't move more than a few feet at a time. They have no water and scrounge the dry earth for any residual moisture from fallen leaves or blades of grass. Food is scarce and they are hungry. Some of the puppies are so tattered and sick and the other mama dog suffered an attack from a neighboring dog and needs urgent medical care.

Saving these dogs from their suffering is a huge undertaking especially to handle ourselves. We refuse to leave any dogs behind and assure the shelters/rescues in Tennessee we will help them all.
A big part of Hounds in Pounds' mission is to be the rescue who can answer these calls from the small desperate rescues in the South doing everything they can to make a difference in their communities. All 14 dogs need essential vetting, vaccinations, altering, HW tests (and most likely treatment), the mama dog needs wound care, and some puppies are sick and will need urgent treatment.

They will need food, supplies, transport, etc. The costs so far are adding up to nearly $20,000. The dark truth is that someone inhabits this property of pain, completely oblivious to the anguished plea in the eyes of these vulnerable little souls.
We are asking every community member to join us in offering whatever assistance they can - no contribution is too small, as even the smallest donation will help ensure no dog is left behind.

Jelly Roll was "adopted" 2 years ago by her foster family. Several weeks ago we received a call that a dog chipped to us was on the euthanasia list at a Louisiana shelter. We were positive this was a mistake but to be safe, we ran the chip and were shocked and saddened to learn it was not a mistake. Unbeknownst to us, Jelly Roll's "family" betrayed their commitment and gave her away like used luggage, only to then be dumped in a high kill Louisiana shelter.

We never turn our backs on our dogs, we moved mountains to get our precious and sweet girl back to us. Thanks to our team, she is safe now with a loving and responsible foster.

Who's that guy with the big smile, scruffy coat, and a paw-ssociate's degree in smiling? It's the top dog of his class, Tito!

This fella is a 2 year old purebred Scrufftastic Terrier. These are rare in rescue, so we know we must have some friends and followers who have been waiting for a guy like this. His tail gets waggin' every time he meets another dog or human, he's a healthy mix of silly and sweet.

Tito weighs around 26 lbs. He is neutered, vetted, and micro-chipped.

Slash is the sweetest, cutest and happiest little guy you've ever met!

Update on our sweet little Crew. Underneath all that matted fur, caked with urine and f***s, we found this beautiful little guy who is so happy to be loved.

Crew is safe with his foster and he is happiest when he's on her lap. It's probably the first time in his life someone has ever cared about him. We can't even begin to imagine how alone and scared he felt, navigating the streets with no food or water and covered in fleas. He will never know a day of neglect again.

He had his first vet visit last week and is scheduled for neuter. Once he is medically cleared and neutered he will be ready to find his new forever home where he will be loved and cherished.

She is an easygoing, friendly snuggle bug whose passions include carrying around her emotional support stick and trying to figure out how to be everyone's friend! Cotton Candy is great with everyone..dogs, cats, and kids! She's laid back and easy going. She loves a good game of tug or fetch, but is gentle with her toys. She is calm indoors, with an occasional case of the zoomies. She's sweet, saucy and very passionate about her terrier duties!

Baby Back Ribs loves her foster mama, she's content following her around and offering her paw for attention. She's been working on her leash walking and is coming along quickly, she's very smart and eager to learn! She's playful and loves a good squeaky toy. Puppy kisses are to be expected along with lots of lap time! She's a solid 10 out of 10 on the terrier scale and can't wait to find her forever family.

We received a call earlier today from one of our shelter partners about this sweet girl located in one of Atlanta's most overcrowded shelters. She is sick and needs our help. And while it's a very tough time in rescue, we aren't going to turn our backs and watch dogs die. Our team will pull together and figure it out like we always do.
