Queen has been placed with a NH rescue
“She’s so sweet and affectionate,” said her parent just before they handed over her big big, heavy chain attached to a prong collar around her neck. Who does this? Disgraceful! QUEEN is just barely out of puppyhood at 12 months old, and her parent dumped her at the shelter because the “other” dog in the house kept putting his nose in HER food dish when she was trying to eat. Who was the offender? Not Queen. This girl is a gem! She is housetrained, crate trained, she knows many commands and she never guards her things from humans! Even though she may be initially shy with new friends, once you give her a few moments, she is friendly and outgoing. Queen did nothing wrong. She is at the shelter due to human error and the failure of her parent to engage her 2 dogs in calming commands like “down” and “place” so they would learn to remain in their area of the room during feeding time. There is so much sadness in her face mixed with confusion and loss. We need an experienced foster or adopter to step up for Queen and whisk her away to safety – to a place of calm and a comfortable routine where she will always be cherished and loved. Please consider giving this good girl a home. She deserves every happiness. MESSAGE OUR PAGE for assistance.

AT RISK MEMO:
Queen is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Queen was brought into the care centers for fighting with the other resident dog in the home. Her previous owner stated that she has always been dog reactive, and would consistently get into intense fights with the other resident dog, resulting in broken skin. She also noted that Queen will resource guard her food from the other dog, snapping when approached. In care she has tolerated all handling but remains fearful with a low head and tail, pinned back ears, and hunched shoulders when walking. She is noted to hard bark and growl at strangers and remained tense both during her intake and assessment. With handlers she has slowly become more social, accepting soft pets. Medically, Queen is apparently healthy.
