In Hand Suitability: Handlers and equines will also be asked to execute a pattern. Patterns may include any gaits, halting, and turns on fore or hind quarters as well as ground tying. Judging/Scoring Equines and handlers will be judged: 70% on suitability as a team in communication, 15% on pattern completion 15% on presentation of both handler and equine

In Hand Obstacles: Class to be judged 90% on the manner of the equine’s performance through the course and 10% on responsiveness, willingness and general attitude. Baiting to encourage an animal to perform one of the obstacles is not allowed. Any baiting is a disqualification Maximum time 60 seconds per obstacle, if the obstacle is not completed in 60 seconds then whistle will sound and entry will move to the next obstacle. Refusals of (3) three obstacles will constitute class disqualification

In-Hand Fit and Showmanship: Class to be judged on the appearance of horse and handler, leading, posing, and showing the horse to its best advantage. Exhibitors will perform a pattern one at a time.

In Hand All Around: The purpose of this class is to show the versatility of the horse that is being shown or handled in hand. This is NOT strictly a suitability, obstacle or halter class but a combination that will showcase the equine and their versatility for all. No registration papers are required for this class. Judged 40% for suitability with the handler, 40% for obstacle or trail work and 20% on halter confirmation.

Division Descriptions: Novice In-Hand: For youth ages 5-18 in their first or second year showing in-hand. Children ages 5-7 can enter Showmanship and Suitability and get assistance from experienced horse handlers. Per NH 4-H rules, children 5-7 will not be judged and will receive a participation ribbon.
Open In-Hand: Open to ages 8+.

W/T Games: Open to riders 5+. Riders may be led or get assistance from experienced horse handlers. Per NH 4-H rules, children 5-7 will not be judged and will receive a participation ribbon. Rider’s who are assisted or led will receive a participation ribbon. Cantering will be penalized by the addition of 2 seconds per canter stride.
Open Games: Open to riders 8+.

Important Information
There will be a food booth on site serving light refreshments.
Pre-entry must be received by May 20, 2024.
In order to offer a showing experience that is affordable, We are using recycled ribbons for this show.
Clean Site Deposit $10.00 * per trailer, not entry. We are sharing the field with the Alstead Recreation Committee. Youth sports teams will be playing on this field this week. We NEED your assistance in cleaning ALL MANURE AND HAY from the field. When you are ready to go, one of the Colts & Fillies adults will check your site and return your deposit when the site is clean. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the Green green.
Bring your own water for your horse as water is only available in the Cold River.
Proof of Negative Coggins must be available for all out-of-state horses. A current rabies vaccination (within 12 months) is required for all horses on the grounds.
Exhibitors must pay for all classes in advance. Riders must obtain their number before entering the ring.
In the case of injury to the horse and/or rider, a refund will be provided. After the start of the show, there will be no class refunds.
A horse may have more than one rider, but each rider must complete an entry form and pay an entry fee.
A handler/rider may only enter one of the following divisions: Novice or Open In Hand, W/T or Open Games.
Novice classes are for Beginner handlers, NOT beginner horses! Green horses should show in the Open In-Hand classes.
Walk/trot riders found intentionally cantering on the grounds will forfeit the remainder of classes for the day.
Classes may be combined or canceled at the show management’s discretion.
Unruly or unsound horses may be excused at the Judge’s discretion and the decision of the judge is final.
The management is not responsible for errors or omissions on the published class list.
For liability reasons, all dogs must be kept on a leash and cannot be left alone in the parking area. Dogs must be kept from entering the boundaries of the show ring.
In accordance with 4-H regulations, all mounted riders on a horse or in a horse-drawn vehicle and all in-handclass exhibitors must wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet. Participants not abiding by the helmet regulation will be dismissed from the show grounds.
Safe footwear must be worn.
Horses must be serviceably sound.
NO Alcoholic beverages are allowed on the show grounds.
NO Smoking in ring area, Secretary’s booth, food booth area, or trailer areas

48 blues + 20 reds + 8 cloverbuds = 76 TOTALLY AWESOME projects exhibited at the Cheshire Fair! We also had members show in the rabbit show, the dairy cow show and serve in the food booth. Colts and Fillies 4-H Club members showing the world what's RIGHT with kids these days!
