Murdoch, a Basset Hound from the hoarding case, has found his way to LVC for medical care. He’s enjoying a slice of pizza from Dino’s Pizza Logan Town Center (they’re donating 10% to CPHS today!) while being clean, comfortable, and cared for.

Dr. Dorothy and Dr. Lettie had an interesting case today. Bigby, the Australian Shepherd, came in after getting into the garbage. He was having stomach pains, vomiting, and doesn't want to eat. After taking x-rays they determined that the next step was a re**al exam. Bigby is a little unsure about this plan and their credentials. We'll keep you posted on their findings.

DON’T FORGET! Get your dogs’ 4th of July sedation (if needed). We will be out of the office Saturday, so please call the office this week.

Here are some other tips:
1. Set up a comfy area in the basement- this is the most soundproof area. Bathrooms work well too.
2. Use a box fan or white noise machine to cover up sounds.
3. Medicate early! Most medications are best given two hours before unless otherwise directed.
4. Fill some kongs with canned food and peanut butter and put in the freezer for a long lasting snack.
5. Make sure your pet has identification- a collar or microchip.
6. Ensure gates are latched and settle indoors well before the festivities.

We all enjoy Spring flowers and sometimes our furry friends enjoy them a little too much. Lilies, especially popular around Easter and Mother's Day, are extremely toxic to cats if ingested. All parts of the lily are dangerous. Even a small amount of pollen licked off the fur can be deadly. Safer and just as beautiful alternatives include; Ge**er Daisies, Orchids, and Roses. We wish everyone a happy and safe Mother's Day.

While most of us are dealing with wet commutes and flooding, our patient Daisy is taking full advantage of the weather!

Whats a group of Ferrets called? Anyone? Anyone? Answer: a business. This boy was a lot busier than his sister. Dr. Whitfield got to see these 2 for their first wellness exam. We absolutely love playing with them after the appointment. As you can see it gets wild.

Sweet baby Trae is celebrating his 2nd adopt-iversary with his LVC mom Kim, his dad Dwight, and the rest of his LVC family and rescuers! This kid had a sad life and a traumatic accident, but the universe came together and he fell into a loving family. Congratulations Trae! Enjoy your awesome cake🍰 P.s. Boots wants some too 😺

Lou was one of our hospitalized patients this week. We are happy to say that Lou went back home to his family. Before he left, some of his medical team lined up for a secret Lou handshake to say goodbye.

This lovely little creature is an ear mite (Otodectes cynotis). Ear mite infestations are most common among outdoor cats. These mites crawl into the ear canal of a cat, reproduce, and can cause some major damage if not treated. Signs of an ear mite infestation are scratching, red ears, odor, and debris that looks like coffee grounds.

February is Dental Health Month! We are planning on posting information through out this month to help educate you on your pet’s mouth. First up is one of our Certified Vet Techs, Amanda, and her dog, Timber, demonstrating tooth brushing. If you have particular concerns or questions you’d like addressed about oral health, post them in the comments or send us a message.

Today was Echo's gender reveal! After 22 years, Echo's mom decided to have DNA sexing done to determine if Echo is male or female. We absolutely love that her owner decided to share this moment with us! It's hard to get through an appointment with Echo without cracking up the whole time.

School is back in full swing at this point, but don't forget about your pets! They need enrichment too, like learning and practicing new tricks! Finley wanted to show off by saying her prayers for us...which was adorable!

Katie's fluffy ears are getting dried by CVT Sarah after her dental cleaning. We like our patients to feel clean and dry, but it also helps to keep their temperatures normal after anesthesia. #spoiled

Little Barkley came in for his first visit. He was so wiggly for his portrait that our technician Brandy put him in her pocket. He's a perfect fit... at least for the next couple weeks 😉

Check out these little buggers! They are ear mites from a kitten. The mites create a dark discharge and are itchy. Other ear infections like yeast and bacteria can look the same so it is important to have us check it out to properly diagnose and treat the problem. Look at 'em go!
