Our Peachy Weach is all ready for her new home!

Peach is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready to be your bestie for the restie.

She loves kids, cats, dogs and everyone and everything in between!
She is not scared of the vacuum, and enjoys lounging around anywhere she fits.
Peach will es**rt you to the bathroom for those late night potty runs, and patiently (whatever that means for a cat) wait for breakfast while you get ready for start your day.

What a month it’s been! 😅

Everyone but Clementine got spayed & neutered and healed!

BlackBerry made it to his new home in perfect health!
🥳

The remaining kittens all caught Giardia. 😖
30 days of antibiotics, bleaching everything & changing litter boxes each day, and 5 medications two times a day, we were in the clear. 🥹

No sooner were we in the clear, Mango popped up with Uveitis in his eye. (See his left eye? 😭)
Steroids and eye drops with no improvement and now more antibiotics. 🥹

On top of their spays and neuters, plus the cost of changing litter everyday, and seeing the vet every other day (or it seemed like!) we blew through $2,000 in 1 month. 😭

When we took the kittens to the vet for their final set of vaccines and check ups, the vet found Clementine had a grade 4 heart murmur and is only half the size of her siblings. They weighed in at 5.06 lbs and she’s at a mere 2.6

Unfortunately, when a kitten suffers from fading kitten syndrome, and is failure to thrive, this is not uncommon.

However, in Clementine’s case this means she is not a candidate for being put under sedation, such as being spayed. Doing so, there is a high chance it would be fatal.

Because of this she will not be eligible for adoption, and will stay within ARC at her foster parent’s home, for her lifetime. All of their pets are spayed and neutered & they will not be taking on anymore fosters moving forward.

We believe in responsible rescue and adopting her out not spayed would simply be irresponsible on our part. Not just because of the massive over population problem but for Clemmy’s safety as well. A pregnancy could also be fatal, like sedation.

We wanted to keep you updated because her siblings get fixed Monday!! We will be posting them and opening their adoption applications THIS WEEK! 😍

So keep an eye out for Mango, Blackberry and Peach!

If you’ve ever adopted a cat or kitten from ARC, did you notice they are the snuggliest, sweetest, most relaxed, and well-handled?!

Well, that’s thanks to this girl right here; Emma.

She is our resident cat snuggler.
She acclimates our kittens and cats to small kiddos and they become SO well rounded. They become the most unbothered, love bugs you have ever met. (Seriously!)

Shes got a big heart and love to help these babies. We’re very proud of her, despite being little, she understands how fostering works and is happy to see them go to their forever homes, without getting her heart broken.

Let’s all take time to appreciate this sweet girl.

And keep your eyes peeled in the coming months for your chance to adopt a new batch of Emma’s snuggle bugs!

We haven’t posted our Tango Swago in a hot minute. He’s still with our foster in College Station but he’s been battling skin issues for MONTHS!

The vet can’t find a cause for the on going irritation.

Finally our last option was a biopsy, which would have been great, until it split wide open!
Poor Tango!
He’s been a trooper but it certainly has wracked up quite the bill!

Have y’all ever had a sink cat?! 🚰🐱
Peach is a sink cat, which means she loves to lounge in the sink and sneakies are her favorite past time!

Her and her siblings are about ready to begin their vaccines and vetting! 🏥
It’s also the time of year we renew our insurance and pay our non-profit taxes! 💰

✨We had our first repeat adopter this year! ✨

Macaroni went home with Uno’s dad!
Uno was in our care in February of 2022 and shortly after adopted to the best home. Her dad knew his fuzzy family wasn’t complete just yet!

🧡 From their dad:
“Macaroni and Uno had their daily zoomies of chasing each other around the house this morning. He is such a pleasure to have around! 😂 I love his diesel truck purrs and bulldozing cuddles. When I play video games, he’ll get up on the Tv and swipe at my character running around. Oftentimes he will jump up and just watch me play with his head cocked 😂
He completes my little cat family, and I love getting out of work to be with those two crazy kitties!”

To say they are perfect, is an understatement.
We love to see it. 🧡🐈🧡🐈🧡

You’ve probably heard that kitten season is in the spring.
Well the Texas Panhandle didn’t get the memo.

We took in these four babies this week.
🍑 Peach (orange female)
🫐Blackberry (tabby male) ((we know, we know, but there’s no blackberry emoji!))
🍊Clementine (calico female)
🥭 Mango (orange male) ((there’s a mango emoji but no blackberries?! Okayyyy.))

Clementine came to us suffering from fading kitten syndrome: and the first days were touch and go. We managed to get her body temp up, managed to keep her blood sugar up, and got her fed. Her veterinarian assured us she looked and sounded good and to keep doing what we’re doing and they gave her antibiotics to help boost her system. She isn’t out of the woods yet for the next few weeks but she is doing much better!

Fading kitten syndrome affects nearly 30% of kittens worldwide and most of the time it’s fatal! We are very thankful she’s doing better!

Her litter mates are all tiny, minus Peach, she’s the size of a normal 3 week old kitten. But they are all in good health otherwise.

To help get them through this period and care they need we’d like to purchase some extra supplies. We’re looking at an incubator to regulate their body temps, as well as their need for formula still mixed with their wet food. They also have vet visits and spays and neuters coming up in the coming months.

Macaroni & Pudding are still looking for their forever homes! 🏡

Macaroni is a typical orange 🍊 cat. Not a thought behind those eyes & he’s never gotten a turn with the braincell. Macaroni is a SNUGGLER. You like cat naps? He’s your partner. He likes to play but mainly he wants your attention, and demands all of it. He is a sweet lovey boy who is ready to be yours forever.

Pudding is a beauty! 🖤 She is brave and has no fear. She loves being the first one to explore anything new. Pudding was the first one to figure out what a vacuum cleaner was and led her brothers and sisters to other new discoveries like what dogs are. She LOVES dogs. She loves to play with cats and dogs, and kids too! Shes always up to something and rarely caught relaxing.

The little ladies, Pudding, Coconut & Oatmeal are finally fixed!

You know what that means! Their adoption applications are OPEN!

Let’s get to know them:

Pudding: She has never known peace a day in her life. She wakes up each day and chooses chaos (not violence). Pudding is the life of the party, and can’t sit still. If ADHD were defined by kittens, she’d be in the textbook. Want someone to show you where you forgot to dust? Pudding is your girl, she will randomly show up on your lap covered in cobwebs and won’t give up where she found them. Shes good with kids, cats and dogs. Actually she loves dogs, we think she might believe she is one.

Coconut: She’s a reserved one. Some might even call her apathetic. She likes to relax and loaf around, stare out the window and contemplate the meaning of life. Think of her as a stale piece of bread. She will love you, when she wants, and likes to play, when she wants. If you let her do what she wants, when she wants, you’ll probably win her favor. She is good with kids, cats and dogs. Although she likes cats and kids the most.

Oatmeal: She thinks she’s better than everyone. You can’t sit with her. And she does NOT wear pink on Wednesdays. (It’s actually her least favorite color.) She likes to snuggle when she needs a pick me up. But she’s pretty self sufficient as far as cats go. Just feed her on time, or she will be sure to tell you all about it. She too walks talks and acts like a Siamese. She is good with cats, kids and dogs, but like Coconut, she likes kids and cats the most.

Macaroni and Porkchop are ready for new homes!

Both are kid, dog and cat friendly. Macaroni is very outgoing and goofy. Porkchop is playful but more reserved.
They are up to date on their vaccines, microchipped and neutered.

Remember Meatball?! This guy caught our eye at the shelter because he LOVED to play with other dogs, he was one of the many dogs sitting without interest and needed out. One of our fosters had the perfect set up for a playful dog so we pulled him. 💕 Meatball was very social and loved kids, cats, dogs and was an all around easy foster dog during his time waiting for his forever home. Please consider donating for Giving Tuesday!! Willow came to ARC after shutting down in the shelter. She became severely depressed, refused to eat and became a potato in a kennel. This put her at great risk to be euthanized. We stepped in with an amazing foster family who had recently suffered the loss of their long time companion, and needed something to take their minds off of the pain of that loss. Together, Willow and her foster family healed, and formed an inseparable bond. No promotion was needed for Willow because there was no way they were giving her up. Everyone remember Blanche? (cue all Golden Girls fans) 😉 So much to say for her, this girl surprised us all! When we visited her at the shelter to evaluate her, she wasn’t the sweetest thing..she was scared and unsure of all humans. One thing we did notice was that she was drawn to kids. She was growling at our board member but seeking out her young daughter for comfort. We committed to pull her into our program and her foster mom started working to make her comfortable. Blanche was covered in painful mats and we knew this was going to cause her to be much more hesitant to be herself and accept attention and affection. Her foster mom is very experienced with the dogs who need some extra TLC but we couldn’t believe how quickly she came out of her shell. After a very short time, the zoomies were in full force. Blanche received a good grooming and necessary vet care, we then started the search for her perfect family. I’d say we found her match and she is living the spoiled life she deserves! Let’s go down memory lane! This girl holds an extra special place in all of hearts as she was our very first ARC dog! She was microchipped upon arrival to our city shelter but was never claimed by her owners. After waiting for a month, we busted her outta there and moved her to a foster home! Her foster mom was so patient with her and provided such a loving environment for Zola to thrive in and become her goofy self. She took awhile to find her forever people but her foster mom continued building her confidence while we waited. Zola was placed as a service dog for a local veteran through another nonprofit in Amarillo and now has a very important job!
