THE Slap
Thoroughbred Gelding Looking for a New Future and Partner

Slap is a 4 yr old 16-hand Thoroughbred gelding with a bay coat and a longer sleek mane, with the sweetest eyes you’ll ever see! Born in 2020 and affectionately named after the Oscars Performance, along with his perigee sire. He is registered but, being young and recently off the track, he doesn’t yet have papers. He absolutely loves attention and waits eagerly at the gate every morning.

Slap is an absolute joy to handle. Calm, cool, and collected, he doesn’t spook at gusts of wind or unexpected noises—even if something gets kicked up in front of him, he remains unfazed. He loves water, whether it’s playing, taking baths, or being groomed, and he’s equally comfortable being tied or left loose in his paddock while eating. He’s used to cross-tying, lunging, and doesn’t mind hoof care or body clipping. He stands patiently for the farrier, bodywork, and trailer loading, making him a true dream to care for.

Since January 4, 2024, Slap has been with us at Horse Rescue at the Grove, arriving from Golden Gate Fields (GGF) to recover and rehabilitate from a tendon injury. I immediately started him on OsteoMax, which, combined with regular ultrasound monitoring, helped track his progress. During the rainy weeks, he remained on stall rest with short, gradually longer walks as he healed. We introduced trotting in straight lines for short periods, and I’m pleased to say Slap showed no issues. Now, he loves his turnout time, and resists going back inside!

To this day, he remains on OsteoMax, which I believe played a significant role in his faster-than-expected recovery. I would recommend continuing this supplement.

He is ready to go in any direction.

Welcome Your Vet check for PPE and I’ll provide my Ultrasounds to interested parties.
I’ll be careful about where he goes, as I’d like to stay in touch with him and only want the best for him. He is athletic by nature and forward minded needing someone to give him the life I expect him to have.

Slim is 23 rescued race horse... has been a companion horse for the last 10 or so years. He’s sound no problems. He had a bowed tendon when we rescued him but that healed. He currently lives in Livermore, if anyone has a pasture this lovely boy can roam about on, he’ll be a welcome pasture pet ❤️🐴❤️

This was such a heartfelt trimming, Brea’s always had a tough time standing for her trimming and I was always so saddened by what might’ve been going on. Calling on a wonderful and knowledgeable bodyworker Beverly Jacobs to help, was the best decision I could have ever made for Brea. Standing perfectly for her entire trim, tears in my eyes, a very pleased Ferrier and a proud Brea ❤️🐴❤️ If anyone needs bodywork on their horses Beverly Jacobs the best!

Just watching these two share a flake of hay and play together warms my heart. Seeing Brea’s height against Bella just blows me away. Brea’s 2 years old measuring 15’3

This beautiful boy is looking for a forever home, preferably a pasture with a companion to roam around with. Slim’s 23 a retired race horse, he hasn’t raced for over 15 years. He’s been loved by a lovely lady who moving and is unable to take Slim along sadly. When you have a yard sale to fund your Horse Rescue and you’re two year old looks more mature than when you left. Brea slow down my baby ❤️🐴❤️

My horses looking forward to breakfast every morning, this month we’re treating for Hind Gut Ulcers with AbSucralfate as a preventative treatment, I wish I had done that last month. We also have added Uckele Equine Tendon for the support of DSLD ( just in case) Jiaogulan herb on its way. I’ve not tested any of my horses for PSSM 1 or MIM but I do my very best to feed a low sugar / low starch diet and supplement accordingly, keeping my eyes open daily to any changes in my horses behavior. My horses at the Horse Rescue mean the world to me and we’re definitely missing our Bella, looking forward to all she’s learning ❤️🐴❤️ I would much rather supplement and keep my herd healthy than any day!!

Thank you Erin and John Saint Ryan for turning a self inflicted leg injury into a positive training tools for Bella. I’ll work on keeping a hose on her, making this easier on her and everyone else. ❤️🐴❤️

We’ve had a rough morning ending in and an extremely sad day. Coral Cat was rushed to UC Davis with Colic, after an ultrasound it was determined that he had a displacement in his colon. Sadly on our way home we received the call, I didn’t want to hear. Cat had taken a turn for the worst and was in extreme pain and discomfort, ultimately the decision was mine to help Cat become comfortable. It’s not an easy decision but one that was necessary and made with love for Cat, as I’ve cared for him since January with a sesamoid injury, that he had completely recovered from.
