We often get questions about what our horses need on frigid days like today! The 3 things that make subzero days no biggie for our horses are:
1. Continuous access to forage in the form of good quality round bales. Did you know the digestion process of forage (not grain) produces significant heat for horses?
2. Access to clean, fresh water. Lack of water consumption can increase risk of colic episodes so it’s important for our horses to have a continuous source of water.
3. Shelter so the horses can escape wind. On a day like today with brilliant sun, the horses are outside the shelters soaking in heat along natural wind breaks by the woods, but if wind picks up or changes direction they have access to loafing shed shelter.

Picture of the lovely Bobart! He’s been steadily gaining weight and has such a lovely winter coat that these cold days don’t even phase him 💕

Guys and Gals, we've deemed 2025 a year of growth for us, and we'd like to hear from you on some upcoming projects. Please let us know in the comments which you'd be most excited about, or most likely to utilize. Looking at these tiny little cuties, it astounds us how much can change in just a few years!
What would you be most excited to see added to the farm in 2025? These are a few ideas that we are currently researching and considering.
* Land Expansion with option of year round trails, expansion would also include the future site of our indoor arena
* Yoga with the animals
*Dizzy Jay Reading Club which would include having your new reader pick a farm animal and/or farm worker to read to, access to multiple books which may be read onsite. For the little book lover who doesn't read independently yet, dedicated readers on staff/volunteers to read to your little from wide variety of age appropriate books
*Homeschool club with different outdoor/animal expert presenter each month
*Coffee/Juice Station
*Merchandise shop complete with Dizzy Jay items, gift certificates, riding journals, etc.
*Regularly scheduled show events at the farm
*Parent Spa Space
Let us know your thoughts in the comments :)
