This sweet boy came in with a severely matted coat, which can be uncomfortable and even painful for pups. Mats pull on the skin, restrict movement, and can hide irritation or sores.
At check-in, he was anxious, scared, and even lunging to bite. That’s not because he’s a “bad dog” — it’s because he was uncomfortable and unsure of what was happening. For his safety and ours, we started the groom with a muzzle and gave him lots of patience and reassurance.
Once he realized he was safe, his whole demeanor changed — by the end of his groom, he was relaxed, happy, and giving kisses. 🐾💜
This is an important reminder:
🌀 Mats can’t always be brushed out without causing pain.
🌀 Regular grooming every 6–8 weeks helps prevent this.
🌀 The haircut may be short today, but it means a healthy coat tomorrow.
