Recently, a 6 year old horse tested POSITIVE for WEST NILE VIRUS in the Helena, MT area.
This horse was UNVACCINATED and had ZERO history of travel. This patient presented with ataxia & muscle fasciculations; this is the first known case of WNV in Montana for 2022.

DPHHS have identified mosquito pools in Lewis & Clark and Dawson Counties to be POSITIVE for WEST NILE VIRUS.

PROTECTING your horses with the appropriate vaccinations for your area, your lifestyle, and their age is good PREVENTATIVE medicine. Additionally, vaccinations need to boosted & repeated annually for ADEQUATE protection.
