Between surgeries and travel, this Spring has had us hopping and we neglected to do an official WELCOME HOME HEATH!! He is celebrating Spring in true Heath fashion. 😂🤣. Video compliments of his new mama.

Pre-announcement for our 2024 Summer Kid Camps 🤠

01/23/2024

Sunday we sent an email to parents of students. Sharing here for those not on our email list but who have frequented the barn, attended kid’s camps or who feel the need to let their kiddos know.

Dear Parents,

It is with a heavy heart that we let you know one of our beloved horses crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday, January 20th.

Iberico was surrounded by loved ones and was laid to rest peacefully.

While this may be difficult to discuss with your child, you may want to let them know prior to returning for their next lesson.

A couple of things you can let them know. First, Iberico had a doctor. The vet did a great job providing medicine to try to help him. Iberico was struggling with an auto immune disorder. In the end, Iberico developed something very painful in his feet, called laminitis.

His horse friends are all sad and missing him. And it will feel different walking in with an empty stall.

Students are invited to write a memory, share a favorite picture, bring a card or carrot, draw a picture or anything they would like to share as a way to say see ya later to him - they will be shared with his owner as a way to say thank you for sharing him with all of us. This is open invitation without pressure and his bucket is hanging outside his stall with flowers and a memory box on a table in front of his stall should they want to leave something.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have ideas on how we can support your child through this difficult loss.

With gratitude for the love Iberico shared so
freely with so many,

Ken and Bobbi Outten

Tonight the ranch is grieving. It is extra quiet and there is no sweet IB nicker greeting us. It was a difficult evening last night and a painful reminder this morning of the hole that is left without Iberico. Each moment without him feels all the emptier.

Be patient with us while we grieve. While we work to honor a life that impacted us in a way which cannot be explained.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Julie - his faithful and loving owner. To his leaser and caretakers Victoria and Crystal and former love Heidi. To his faithful nurses and managers, Allie and Reese. To his weekly caretaker Valley. To his students and fan club - too large to list - with the longest standing and ever faithful Nancy with him to the end. And to my husband - Ken - who has spent six years faithfully caring for every aspect - all things IB -and all that is needed to provide the best home possible, day in and day out.

Tonight our hurting hearts honor IB and our herd grieves.

Rest in peace sweet IB.

Some great information shared by Our little Farm in Palmer: “…educational facts on cold weather and horses from our experts at AAEP.
Besides the obvious respiratory risks for both riders and horses in extreme cold and dry weather. Many of the sciences with our pets are the same for us, such as frostbite!”

It was a cold winter’s night,
Not a creature was stirring,
I was cozy indoors,
With the cats sweetly purring.
And Ma in her kerchief
And I in my cap,
Had just settled down
To a long winter's nap -
When out in the back
There rose such a sight,
I sprang from my bed to take a picture, that’s right.
And, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But half frozen humans and two tiny reindeer..."
