To all those waiting on Cora videos…here’s an overview on what she‘lol be learning.
1. To walk either in slightly in front or slightly behind you depending on the flow of people.
2. That during an episode in public sitting between your legs facing out with her person resting on her back
3. During an episode at home to press herself against you.
4. Firming up her obedience
5. In restaurants to lay under the table and if an episode occurs to rest her head against your abdomen from under the table.
6. In Grocery stores to walk beside you or slightly behind depending on people flow
7. To direct you away from a crowd
This isn’t an overnight project and training is being done to receive credits towards national certification through classes I’m currently taking. Upon completion of these courses in 12 months I’ll be certified to train service dogs as well as certified to test dogs’ temperaments for service work. This isn’t going to be a 3 week course that some people out there take just so they can say they’re certified, it’s going to take a good bit of time and effort on my part but we’ll worth!

Maggie’s second one hour training. She pulled terribly on the leash, jumped up when she was “in her mind” done with training. We’re only using a martingale leash…no prong or ecollar. Owner is still finding their balance which is why using the trees for changing direction is important and makes Maggie focus. If you listen to the video walnuts are falling and her son is throwing a ball. Talk about distractions!

Friend has two female Golden Retrievers looking for homes. Sire is imported from Spain. I don’t usually post other peoples puppies on here but they’re moving and can’t take them with them due to limited space. The owners are also the breeder, and down sizing. There is also an older female available and the sire to this litter.

Queen was such a good girl with training today, she earned herself a bowl of Ice Cream from Sarah’s in Reynoldsville, PA. She went to Lowe’s and Petco for socialization training and DooLittle’s boxcars for sit and stay training with distractions. Such a good girl

Dina’s first time EVER on a leash. This little lady usually just runs loose, never had to worry about learning to walk on a leash until now. She’s almost 9 months old. We worked with obedience first with her and she’s now graduating to off property walks.

Are you getting a puppy this Christmas season for the family? We have a program just for that called the Puppy Right Start Program. We go over everything from potty training, excessive chewing, starting Obedience, leash walking, building confidence, and proper socialization. We come to your home so the puppy is in a relaxed atmosphere and not stressed. This program is beneficial right as so as you get the puppy so no bad habits can be formed prior to training.

You all met Zodiak two weeks ago. He’s the 9 yr old that had problems walking on the leash and over reacted to just about anything…well today we working on his over reaction to dogs. After being bitten by another dog he was sure how to properly approach let alone walk beside another dog without becoming so reactive he couldn’t calm down. Well This is him within 30 minutes. He walked beside Valley, left Valley sniff him, and even trying playing a bit with her.

Cinnamon and Caramel are 5 month old siblings that have shown sibling syndrome, were not wanting to listen every little thing and a walk set them off, house breaking was falling apart, and if crated cried for hours on end.
By the time I left, both puppies were sitting on command, staying for owners to walk 10 feet away and then back, laying down with lure on command. learned the leave it command. Walking was better but still needing work so we’ll make another trip down in a week or two. Also gave the owner tips on improving potty outside and ways to handle the crate crying as well.

I have a client on Saturday that has two red hound puppies that are 5 months old. She’s struggling with sibling syndrome. One female is dominant, neither girl wants to follow their owner as a leader, and now developing food aggression between the two. So this had lead me to do a question and answer period, the lead in discussion will deal with this issue, but the correction can be used in training period…because first of all we have to get these puppies to view their owner as the leader. Some people asked besides my experience where did I learn my training methods. This is one of the schools I attended classes at and every Sunday participate is a catch up session where we discuss dogs that we need to think outside of the box for positive training results. So besides over 30 yrs working with dogs, canine behavioral class at Penn State, worked with numerous veterinarians in Lancaster county, Animal behavioral classes available online, and also handled numerous breeds in the AKC show ring in the 80’s and 90’s…we also keep current on the latest training tends with continuous training seminars for professional trainers. One of which we’ll be attending this Thursday to help better focus your dog. We look forward to bringing these new ideas to our clients!

On Tuesday we met with the owner of this 9 yr old Pit/Chow mix…yes it’s never too late to learn manners. He was dog reactive,object reactive, pulled on the leash, jumped on you, total boss on how things were going to be. The owner had been told by other trainers he’s not fixable. One trainer in particular had the owner concerned that her dog was actually going to bite the trainer. She used the standard noisy can method, and was getting a fear aggression reaction from the dog. Read what the owner stated after just a two hour session. We’re going back in a week an a half to teach the dog now on how to properly greet other dogs.

Sammy is an 8 month old puppy that is too smart for her own good and spoiled rotten to boot. The combination has her thinking she could do her own thing and not needing to listen. We put a couple of rules in place, taught her owners a couple of games and tricks to do. Also worked with her walk because she was crazy at pulling.

Sammy was also nervous about new things. So a couple of rules for that, a few tips on how to introduce her to new things and a few tricks to on stepping in and out of objects to help with her nervousness as well.

In this program we cover potty training, excessive mouthing, teething help, calming techniques, leadership skills, personal space respect, prevent jumping up, excessive barking prevention, proper walking on a leash, basic obedience, zoomies, and so much more.

The training is done in your home and cost is $200

Jet is a nervous dog that pulled on the leash on a walk, barked and lunged at people, dogs and trucks on a walk. Barks constantly in the house. He also would lay over on walks and not walk past certain houses that had other dogs.

After working with Jet we walked past other dogs, people, an Amazon truck and an ice cream truck without reacting. We walked past all the house he refused to walk past.

Floyd received his certificate of completion today after passing his completion test of basic puppy obedience. He sits, lays down, stays, comes, waits, and walks properly on a leash. We also touched on far enough and this way.

We have a new class starting for 6 month old to one year old this Monday at 6 pm. If you’re interested in this class come Monday evening at 6 pm, bring current shot records!

We started a new puppy class this Saturday 6/26 but still have two available spots. Next class will be July 3rd, call 8142498896 for time.

Classes are $25 per hour.
