I’m a single mother to a beautiful sophomore in college (Go Cyclones). I am also mom to three sweet Yorkshire terriers and grandmother to one Pomeranian. If you’re furry kids are like mine, they get excited just at the sight of their harness and leash. I found that trying to get my girls into nylon harnesses the most tedious part of what should be a fun activity. What I learned is that my pups don
’t like having things slipped over their heads and forget about having them “step in” to a harness. I found a fabric harness and thought it was a great idea, but it was a little too expensive for me to just try out. After some researching and measuring I made my own. Once the girls got used to the harnesses, it was a snap to put them on and take them off. Queue the choir of angel! Before I knew it, my girls had dozens of harnesses. The unexpected side effect of turning my babies into fashionista’s is that from the coffee shop to the vet’s office I kept hearing how cute they were and how I should sell them. That is how So Belle Pets was born. The name So Belle comes from the first puppy mill rescue I adopted. She was a gorgeous Yorkshire terrier that I named Sophie Belle. She was the sweetest most loving dog despite all she had been through. She broke my heart when she passed away in November 2011. I’m very lucky to have adopted two yorkies from a rescue in Wisconsin. My girls, Scarlett (she my best harness model) and Lulabelle, are both former puppy mill mamas. They were not very well cared for and didn’t know how to trust. They have helped to heal my heart and I hope I’ve help them to learn how to be loved.
