When you spend enough time in the reptile industry you start to become known for taking in the unwanted pets of others, I get calls from petshops, police stations, rescue groups and well meaning citizens alike, each comes with its own story, some are taken care of, others not so much.

Today's drop off is a perfect example. 11 years spent in a 15 gallon aquarium, from a tiny hatchling purchased at a roadside attraction to this. Many pet owners, while well meaning, aren't really prepared for the longterm reality of the baby animals they purchase, makes me wonder about the ethics of this hobby honestly.

With proper lighting and care this Yellow Bellied Slider hybrid will likely be able to live out her 20+ more years of life relatively okay, but the scars and deformed shell will always be there, we gave her a bath and a light scrub and off came 3 layers of stuck shell scoots! Now off to her new quarantine pond.

While she is perfectly welcome to live out her life in our Zoo we'd also be willing to adopt her out to the right individual with proper knowledge and an adequate setup to house her in! If your interested please reach out via PM.

This is the Flemish Giant rabbit we had at the Jackson Expo. She's 2 years old.
Flemish Giants can get up to 2.5 feet and weigh up to 15 pounds. They can live up to 8 to 10 years.

Always something new at the Zoo!

We just received several subadult monitor lizards!

Including a beautiful Mangrove Monitor, a good sized Black Rough Necked Monitor and for the first time in over a decade, a subadult Dumrils Monitor! After these guys go through our acclimation process, which will include a health checkup, bath, parasite treatment, and some days to rest, eat and settle down, they will be available to go to their new homes! Beautiful specimens for the avid Monitor keeper! Please be aware these are moderate to advanced level animals, not for the inexperienced first time Monitor keeper!

We are expecting a limited number of Mountain Chicken Frogs to arrive soon!
