A bittersweet announcement:
On June 15th, 2021 Happy-Pet celebrated 20 years of providing in-home daily dog walking and pet sitting service for thousands of clients, neighbors, and friends in the greater Annapolis area. I am proud of this accomplishment, the business built, and the service the Happy-Pet staff and I provided. It’s been one heck of a ride with a few ups, a few downs, and in the last year some very challenging times.
I am sad to announce that Friday, July 30th will be my last day of service.
Happy-Pet was built on providing weekday daily dog walks while clients work. Pet sitting has been a complimentary service which has always been the most challenging aspect of business operations regarding scheduling, staffing, the logistics of meeting client service windows, and pet needs. The economy is opening back up and pet sitting is making a comeback; daily dog walking, not so much. Clients are now working from home part and full-time and when clients are working from home, dog walks are often cancelled. Consequently, the consistency needed to make Happy-Pet a viable source of revenue has suffered.
There are dozens of family members, friends, and former employees to thank for two decades of support; too many to mention. With that said I owe the world to my amazing wife Bria and our two daughters, Charlotte and Eloise. Additionally, every member of the Barry and McElroy families pitched-in at some point, and my good friend David Iams; I simply could not have done this without each of you.
There are a handful of great in-home dog walking and pet sitting companies in the area. I strongly recommend the following:
• Quality Time Pet Sitting, Marie Eden
• Spoiled Rotten Dogs, Julie Nefferdorf,
• Higgins and Friends Pet Sitting
To my past and present clients, it has been a privileged to provide care for your pets. Earning your trust, loyalty, and in many cases friendship, has been a life changing experience that will remain with me forever.
Thank you for being members of the Happy-Pet family. I wish you the very best.
Cheers,
Matt
