It has been awhile since I have posted about the dogs. Time to catch up! Soleil achieved her Championship last year up in Duluth with a nice 4-point major win. This last weekend down in Mason City she went BOB/BOBOH and recieved a 3rd place win in the regular herding group and a 4th place win in the NOHS herding group on Saturday. Thank to breed judge Linda Friedow for finding my girl in a nice line-up of minis; and to goup judges Dr. Gail Forsythe and Donna Buxton. Congratulations to all the winners. Sunday she went select. Soleil will be 4 in June and I am loving the way she is maturing! Thank you to mentors, Lynn E Gray and Michaela Starks. Thank you Angela Ogle and Erin Skoog for allowing me to breed my girl Anna to Nova to produce this little gem.

How wonderful is it to go to a show and have a whole herd....oops pack of grandpups showing with you. How can you lose when that happens. I love to see my grandpups and their owners/breeders shine out in the ring.
At the LOLKC there where a handful. Congratulations to Sharon Sloper-Hulke / Amy Pirkl & Topher Pirkl and Therese Stoebner on finishing their boy Trip (Birchviews Triple Threat Waffle Fry). He earned his championship by going WD and BOW x 3!! Trip is a grandson of Anna.
Congratulations to Sharon and Christin Congdon on going reserve WB with Ruby (Birchviews Sparkling Red Ruby). Ruby is an Anna grandpup.
Congratulations to Natalee Yates and Nikee (A2Z Just Do It Wigglebutt) on winning their class. Nikee is an Anna daughter and littermate of Soleil.
Congratulations to Dana Huntington and Fly (Westoak Goin' Fly Phishin' with A2Z) on winning her class. Fly is a daughter of Orion.
Congratulations to Brianna Campbell, Kyleigh Campbell and Holly Olson on Kyra (Faithland N A2Z Roman Love and Beauty) on winning their class on Thursday. Kyra is a daughter of Orion.
And last, but not least, congratulations t Katie Cassens and Atlas ( Westoak Go The Distance ) for winning his class 3 out of 4 days. He is an Orion son. I see so much of Orion in this young boy.

The LOKC show weekend was full of fun, great friends, and awesome wins. A2Z Bluegrass Soleil of Wigglebutt started out slow with the first two days placing 2nd in her class both days. On Saturday, she won her class, but no love in the WB line-up. That afternoon we did Meet The Breed. On Sunday, she came to the show a bit grumpy, but she showed wonderfully. She won her class and went on to win WB for a huge 3-point major. She is now half-way to her championship! Congratulations to all the winners. We had a huge line-up of amazing MAS at the show.

Orion (A2Z Bluegrass Orion Of Husker Heart) also came to play in the junior handling ring with Kyleigh Campbell. They got a 4th place win at the NS Herding Group Club show and made the cut out of 22 juniors on Friday!! They received no love on Saturday. Thank you Kyleigh and the Campbell family for loving Orion as we do.

Back in September, Sandi and I decided it was time to retire Orion. He has had an amazing show career and I could not be more happy with my first bred-by boy!! He ended his official show career with a BOS at the Des Moines KC show. Thank you judge Christine Erickson for finding our boy in a nice line-up of MAS. He finishes his career as BISS, BISSOH GCHS CH A2Z Bluegrass Orion Of Husker Heart DCAT CGC TKN. Orion was always owner/handler shown. We earned a bronze and silver in the NOHS.
I co-owned Orion's dam, GCHB CH Bluegrass Opal with Lynn E Gray/Bluegrass Kennels and his sire, GCH CH Bluegrass 2nd Encore @ Husker Heart is owned and loved by Micheala Starks. I cannot thank these two ladies for making this breeding happen and for all they have done for me. Also Sandra Platt, for co-owning, supporting, and being such a great friend and sharing Orion with me on this crazy adventure.
Orion will be starting his therapy dog training next month and will be seen in the Junior Handler ring with his friend, Kyleigh Campbell. He will come out of retirement for special occasions. I look forward to seeing his puppies shine in the show and performance ring!! Orion is available for stud to approved bi***es.

While Tessa was busy doing performance things; her half-sister A2Z Bluegrass Soleil of Wigglebutt has been busy in the conformation ring. Soleil showed at the UKC show in Hugo and recieved 3 reserve champion wins and a BOB/Herding Group 3. We also went to the IABCA show in Hutchinson and won BOB/BOB bred-by all 4 shows. She also earned a herding group 3, 2 bred-by herding group 2s, and 2 bred-by herding group 3s.
At the recent Mpls kennel club show in Shakopee, Soleil went reserve winner's bitch to a 3 point major and placed 2nd in class the next day.
Soleil will be competing in agility soon and hopefully some other fun sports!

Out of every tragedy, even the worst ones, there are some bright spots that start to show up. The sudden death of my dear friend and mentor, Lynn E Gray of Bluegrass Kennels, turned my world upside down. There isn't a day that goes by that I do not think of her. One reason is, I am surrounded by Bluegrass dogs!
The day before Lynn passed, a beautiful litter of 7 puppies were born to Bluegrass Charm by my co-own boy A2Z Bluegrass Orion of Husker heart. This would be the last thing that Lynn and I would ever do together. I wasn't looking to get a puppy; I didn't need another dog at my house. However, now I had to have one of them to carry on Lynn's memory.
I was very blessed to go out to Whitewood and spend a great week with Lynn's family, Joshua Gray, Carrie Gray-Wood, and their family and the puppies. They welcomed me into their home, just as Lynn had always done. Here is one of those bright spots. I will continue to have these wonderful people in my life and I will cherish their friendship as I did Lynn's.
By the end of that week, I knew which puppy would carry on the Bluegrass legacy. Yet, another bright spot. I would like to introduce my memorial puppy, Bluegrass A2Z Forever In My Heart (waiting AKC approval). Her call name is Zenyatta, Zen for short. She will be co-owned with Sandra Platt. She reminds me so much of her daddy and everytime I look at her, I think of Lynn. I look forward to seeing what this little girl will do in the ring and hoping Lynn will be smiling from above!
Thank you Carrie and Josh for sharing your mom and yourselves with me, and I look forward to seeing more bright spots!

I'm trying to catch-up on posts. A2Z Bluegrass TessaRosa had an amazing summer/fall. She received her FCAT3 & FCAT4 with speeds mostly in the 27mph range. She also achieved her Farm Dog Certificate in September. At our NSMASC specialty show we played in the obedience/rally ring and achieved our 1st legs in both Beginner Novice B and Novice B rally.
Tessa and I have been working hard on getting ready for the agility ring. i hope to be trialing her soon!

Another show weekend done! Orion and I went to Duluth for 2 days, Friday & Saturday. On Friday, Orion went select and on Saturday he went BOB / BOBOH in a nice lineup of MASs. Thank you to judges Linda Hurlebaus and Karen Hynek respectively, for finding our boy! Always a fun adventure with co-owner Sandra Platt. Thank you Mike Bleecker for all your love and support.

I attended the Summer Solstice in Cambridge with Tessa, Soleil and Orion. Tessa ran FastCAT on Thursday and Friday and had 4 awesome runs; all in the 27mph range.
I was bringing Soleil to give her some ring time, not planning on her doing anything. Well, she caught the eye of two of the judges this weekend, going WB and BOS, out of the bred-by class; for her first 4 AKC points. Thank you judges, Robert Robinson and Charles Olvis for finding my girl in a lovely line-up of girls.
Orion did not do as well, but did get a select/BOBOH on Sunday!
A huge thank you to Mike Bleecker for being my catcher, holding dogs ringside, for your support and chauffeuring the dogs back and forth to the show. Thank you to Maddie Koehler & Sharon Sloper-Hulke for bringing Soleil back in for breed and Dana Huntington for back up on Sunday. Thank you Sandra Platt for sharing Orion with me! Congratulations to all the winners! It was great to see and catch-up with old friends and meet new ones.

Fargo Update:
A2Z Bluegrass Orion of Husker Heart (Orion) and I attended the Fargo shows. On Saturday, Orion went BOB/BOBOH, NOHS GR 4 in show 1 and BOS/BOBOH in show 2. On Sunday he picked up two selects.
A2Z Just Do It Wigglebutt picked up her first point by going WB/BOS. Congratulations Nikee & Natalee! Congratulations to al the winners. Thank you Judge Christine Erickson for finding our dogs in a nice line-up of MAS. Thank you to my sister, Lisa Hanson for watching the dogs at home; thanks Mike Bleecker for hosting at the cabin and as always a huge thank you to co-owner Sandra Platt for allowing Orion to play up here in MN!

Soleil played in the IABCA showring at Hutchinson, MN this weekend, April 27-28th and she did quite well. She received 4 Best of Breeds, 4 Best Bred-bys, 3 Bred-by Herding Group 2s, an a Bred-by Herding Group 1. She went on to receive a RBIS Bred-by to top the day off. I'm so proud of this little girl and what she has accomplished so far.
