I was introduced to Jet & Sadie over a meet and greet where I was able to learn about their personalities and behaviors. After passing the evaluation process, I scheduled them for a few daycare visits before their upcoming extended stay. This was to give them time to get acquainted with me and the rest of the pack! 🐾

A healthy coat should be shiny and smooth, not brittle or coarse - while healthy skin should be supple and clear, not greasy or flakey. Dogs have sensitive skin which can become irritated by a number of factors, from environmental allergies to genetic conditions. However, regular baths can help reduce dirt, bacteria, and fungi build-up, which ultimately protects their skin from absorbing pollutants, toxins, as well as external parasites from playing in the outdoors! It's important to factor in your dog's coat and length type as well!

Our facility pictured is still in the process of renovations, but we can't wait to share the finished results! We will be upgrading to XXL crates, comfy orthopedic beds, and remodeling our catio soon!

Although most of our visitors are dogs and cats, we also care for small pets, too! Here's Bunny & Eggy! They have their own dedicated room, how cool!
Bunnies are crepuscular, so they are most active at dusk and dawn with some periods throughout the night. Not only can they see 360 degrees, but they can pinpoint the location of sounds! Their ears also help them regulate their body temperatures. They groom themselves and can be litterbox trained, too!
Not only does K9 to 5 Pet Services LLC assist our local shelters and rescues with our private foster program, we also provide long term boarding for owners who are temporarily unable keep their loving companions.
It's almost kitten season, which means we will be taking in a lot of neonates and unaltered stray cats. Since the expenses for our fosters are paid for out of pocket, we appreciate any and all donations!

Merle absolutely loves making friends, going on hiking adventures, and exploring the outdoor environment!
Socialization in the first few months of life is critical for healthy social development. Proper exposure to new places, people, and other dogs can reduce the incidence of behavioral problems later on. We use outdoor enrichment activities for puppies to engage in their innate behaviors such as playing and chasing.
Remember! It's essential to provide both mental and physical stimulation for puppies. Indoor activities such as puzzles, sniff mats, and interactive toys are great for cognitive enrichment and aids puppy boredom.

We are putting down epoxy flooring, hanging drywall, and installing a mini split ac/heater. We are also ordering XXL heavy duty dog crates with orthopedic beds, a large King Size dog bed for group naptime, and a sectional couch to hang out on! We will have a ball pit, agility course, and Puppy Scapes Playgrounds! We are hoping to finish by the end of April or mid May. 🐾
Thanks to Easy Pet Fence, we will be securing a large amount of property specifically for the dogs! We also have a spacious catio connected to the house for our feline guests - with a litter robot and a cat wheel!

Look at those cute paws! We took in these two little girls when they were just 4 weeks old and nursed them back to health. Now at 13 weeks old, they've been officially adopted! It's always a bittersweet moment.

Hello! We have some exciting news to share with you all. We will be relocating as of March 1st 2022!
K9 to 5 Pet Services LLC will continue serving the Triangle Area in addition to Apex, NC!
We decided we needed an upgrade to expand. Our beautiful new home is located in Apex, NC just off the 401. It sits on 3 acres with an additional 7 acres and hiking trails directly behind it. We will be converting the large 24x48 warehouse into the dog lounge complete with a grooming station and we also have a spacious catio connected to the main house.
As of now, we are still accepting reservations at our Chapel Hill location until February 25th 2022. We will be accepting new reservations starting March 15th 2022 at our new location - to give us time to settle in and put up fencing around the property. 🐾

Before you decide on getting two littermates or puppies within close age range, keep Littermate Syndrome in mind! Littermate Syndrome is a serious behavioral condition that develops when two puppies form a strong bond and become codependent on one another. It may sound ideal when dogs are such close friends, but major issues can arise down the road.
The problem is that their relationship with each other can stop them from creating proper bonds with humans and hinder their social development, which can lead to seperation anxiety, leash reactivity, and aggression - even with non-aggressive breeds. These issues may increase severity as they mature.
Believe it or not, the most important work occurs when the puppies are socialized and trained individually! This means seperate crates, walks, and socialization. Thankfully, the owners of these handsome boys did their research before getting littermates and have been doing a phenomenal job with raising them!
Meet Izzy! She was one of our newest clients during the holidays. She's super affectionate and would greet me during every drop in visit with purrs and love!
Did you know that scientists have found owning a cat can reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack by a third? Their snuggles help lower stress and anxiety, which subsequently lowers blood pressure!

Did you know that the first 3 months are considered the critical socialization period? Socialization with positive reinforcement and exposure to safe environments helps puppies develop good behavior, proper manners, and builds confidence as they grow!
According to the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, improper socialization can lead to behavior problems later in life. They may develop fearfulness in response to different factors in the environment - such as strangers, objects, or other dogs. This fearfulness may manifest in various forms including aggression and seperation anxiety. We don't want that!
This is Willett - he was in a foster program after being found on the streets and potentially used as a bait dog. You can see the scars on his arms and chest, not to mention his botched ear crop. Despite what this little guy has gone through, he was adopted!
His owner was very hesitant to board him with anyone due to his submissive nature and past history, which is completely understandable. Since we also foster and rescue - we have experience working with dogs of different behaviors and temperaments.
We give all dogs a chance without breed, size, or weight discrimination. He very much enjoyed his stay with us! The past doesn't define who you are, Willett!
