It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing that Buddy and Angel's Animal Rescue will be taking a hiatus for the foreseable future. This means that we will not be financially assisting with veterinary bills at this time. We are hoping to be back helping people (two legged and four legged) again, so please keep checking back for updates!

Thank you for your understanding! We wish all of your furry friends the very best!

Sweet Chonga was having some trouble with painful ears, so we helped a good Samaritan who cares for him get him into Garberville Vet-- thank you, Garberville-Redway! This handsome boy has a long road to recovery and will likely need surgery but for now he has antibiotics to ease his condition. We will post the GoFundMe for his hematoma surgery when it is available, so stay tuned!

We are very thankful to Sunnybrae Animal Clinic for their generous giving tree donations! We were able to get this food and more into the mouths of needy pups and we are thrilled to be working with New Directions to distribute the remainder of the donations. When we work together as a community, anything is possible!

DOG OWNERS this is one of the many reasons why it's so important to keep your dogs secured at all times!

Bear and his owner should not have had to go through this horrible experience...

Best healing wishes to BEAR

DON’T GET A DOG –
DON'T GET A DOG UNLESS YOU CAN COMMIT TO SHARING YOUR TIME & LIFE WITH THEM
In an ideal world dogs would be included as part of the family and we would share our time and life with them. In reality, many people view dogs as an item of property, a commodity to be bred and make money from, a cheap, replaceable security system with a built-in barking alarm, a garden decoration, a toy to play with when the kids are bored or a fashion accessory that looks good when we’re out walking, running or taking selfies with.
Dogs are not objects, just like us they are sentient beings with the capacity to feel a range of emotions. A life spent confined to a backyard or fenced in with little or no human companionship is not a life. Dogs are naturally social beings and need to spend time with their human family. They need love and attention, exercise and mental stimulation. They need routine, consistency and predictable patterns to feel secure in our world. They need to feel safe, secure and protected if they are to be the best version of themselves.
Having a dog requires commitment, patience and dedication. It’s hard work, it’s sometimes messy, dirty and stinky, it costs money and often requires changes to our lifestyle. It’s a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly, but the rewards of forming a family bond with another sentient being can bring so much joy and enrichment to both our lives and theirs.

We were able to help this sweet girl named "Splash" get into the vet for some antibiotics for pyrometra.

This is a good reminder to make sure to spay your female dogs before they become seniors. This is a very painful condition that's caused by an infected uterus.
For some more information about pyrometra go to: https://www.vetwest.com.au/pet-library/pyometra-in-dogs #:~:text=Pyometra%20is%20defined%20as%20an,in%20the%20reproduction%20in%20dogs.

We wanted to publically appreciate those who take in abandoned senior animals and give them the love and compassion that they deserve!

Felix was taken in by a neighbor after being abandoned by his previous owner. He was taken into the vet, pampered and loved on before it it was his time to pass over the rainbow bridge. You are much respected Felix's dad!

Rest in Peace Sweet Felix.

We aren't a fan of posting sad news about animals crossing the raindbow bridge, but we know that it's an unfortunate reality of pet ownership for so many wonderful animal owners...
This sweet girl chihuahua girl "Chicka" was originally pulled from a kill-shelter in Humboldt County for being too fearful for adoption. This sweetie found herself in a loving home for a little over 13 years. Suffering from dementia, painful hips and loss of eye sight, her mom ultimately made the decision to say goodbye to this little gal tonight.

Blessings to Chicka & her momma

We are now offering low-cost wellness care and basic illness treatment for needy animals in our community! We want to make sure all animals have access to the care they need.
Please keep in mind that all animals must be spayed or neutered or be scheduled to be fixed.
**These exams and treatments are for low-income families only, and we will require proof before services are rendered**

As always, we will still be offering low-cost spay and neuter and vaccines to all community members.

Please like/share!

We were happy to be able to help get Kronos some help when he wasn't feeling well. Kronos is feeling more comfortable now thanks to Arcata Animal Hospital's hard work, his doting dad who recognized the signs that something was wrong, and supporters of Buddy and Angel's who make this kind if help possible. Thank you! ❤

Buddy and Angel’s Rescue

We’re dedicated to helping animals in need. We provide help with spay/neuter funds, vaccination and other assistance for pet owners in need. Who were Buddy and Angel? One of our founders had a pretty rough childhood. Her family repeatedly fell on hard times as she was growing up, and these circumstances caused her to move from place to place and school to school. She became a lonely child, surrounded by violence, narcotics and impoverished neighborhoods. However, everything seemed to change when she was given the gift of friendship.... Buddy was a pup that immediately filled the void of empty promises and broken dreams. Buddy changed her path and gave her hope. Then, when Angel came into her life, she truly felt that she was saved. Angel proved to be the other half that she and Buddy were missing. It’s hard to explain the bond between a person and their dogs, but sometimes having best friends and trusted companions can change one’s entire perspective of the world. In Buddy and Angel’s memory, we are excited about the opportunity to change people’s lives by providing assistance to keep beloved pets healthy and happy. Our rescue has no paid staff and is 100% volunteer based. We are funded primarily by donations with occasional supplements from grants. If you’re interested in donating, head over to our main page and click the “donate” button!
