very dog deserves the best start in life. Your puppy will be raised on our premium puppy program, where they will participate in 8 weeks of an advanced service dog curriculum. Before being chosen, they will complete a temperament evaluation, so you can match yourself with the best fit for your family. Adding a new family member isn’t something you take lightly, and at Blackwood Acres we don’t either.

Everyone is safely home! ✨️

Adoption Day spread out over several weeks as some of the pups got training or boarding, but everyone is with their family now. 😍

🧡 Pippi, now Oakley June Cherokee, will be staying with us as a potential future mama in our program
💙 Paddington, now Merlin, is living near Chicago
❤️ Ferdinand, now Samson, is living near Chicago
🩵 Charlotte, now Winnie, is living near Chicago
💚 Stuart Little, is keeping his first name and living in Chicago
💜 Madeline, now Luna, flew home to California where she'll be growing up
🩷 Heidi, now Pearl, is living in Chicago
💛 Tom Sawyer is also living in Chicago
🤎 Charlie, now Milo, is also living in Chicago

We can't wait to see these guys grow up and change the world. ✨️

The Children's Classics litter has officially started kindergarten! This week they'll be exposed to various items within the safety of their whelping box, along with listening to a variety of noises they'll encounter when they go home.

It's been quiet around here, but we've been keeping a secret. 🤭 Alaska gave birth to NINE puppies yesterday and we are absolutely smitten with them all.

Litter introductions will be coming soon! In the meantime, enjoy the little puppy squeaks in our stories. Try not to melt. 🫠

Happy Gotcha Day to the Peter Rabbit litter! ✨️

💛 Benjamin, now Milton, lives closer than most of our puppies, only an hour away in Champaign, IL.

💚 McGregor, now Enzo, lives in Chicago with his family who has been waiting a very long time for him.

💙 Peter, now Porto, also lives in Chicago and will have the most fun growing up as a foodie in the city.

🩵 Cottontail, now Mayday, traveled home to Minnesota, where she will be absolutely spoiled with those snowy winters.

🩷 Mopsy, now Naboo, will grow up in the Chicago suburbs with her very excited family.

The Peter Rabbit litter is over 6 weeks old! Someone tell me where the time has gone. 😩

We've been so busy soaking up all of the puppy cuddles. Adoption Day is right around the corner, and fortunately it won't be as difficult this time because we are keeping one of these beautiful girls for our program. 🤩 We are waiting until after evaluations to make our pick, but I'd love to know...

The Peter Rabbit pups are doing preschool this week and starting on noise desensitization. Almost halfway to going home! 🥹

Having puppies again is such a sweet reminder of the blessing of life, the importance of savoring the little moments, the joy of caring for someone who can't care for themselves.

Kota is an incredible mother. She gets anxious when her babies are away from her for longer than a bathroom break, so we had to make this photo shoot quick. 😅
