Please don't feed someone else's horse!!

-Today I died 🌈

Grazing on the grass as the same every day
I see some new people coming my way
I run over as I always do
I knew it wasn’t my owner but someone new.

They gave me something
What it was, I wasn’t to sure
I took it anyway as I trusted humans
I thought they were all kind and pure.

I took it off them
I tried to chew
it got stuck
I was in danger but who knew?

The human just walked away
Carried on with their day
My owner came later than to see me
She looked at me a different way.

She wasn’t smiling or happy
She didn’t welcome me with open arms
She looked scared
She looked alarmed.

I heard her crying on the phone
I heard her pray
She held on to me
She said ‘please make it.please don’t leave me today’.

The vet came quickly
He saw me on the ground
He looked at my owner
She fell to the ground.

I laid there in pain,
My stomach felt like a tight knot
I tried to get up
for the first time I could not.

The vet told me he was sorry
He said there is nothing he could do
He told me I wouldn’t be in pain anymore
What he meant?
I didn’t have a clue.

I felt something sharp
I started to fall to sleep
I felt my owner hold me
I let out one last weep.

I was healthy and happy
I had so much grass on the land
I trusted every single human
My fate ended up in their hands.

It was something that could of been avoided
a human thought they were doing good
they gave me something that they didn’t know if they should.

I left my owner
I left my friends
I had a long life ahead of me
It should of never came to a end.

I died that day.

Please think about us when you walk by
we don’t need extra food
we don’t need treats
that’s what our owners supply.

-I died that day.

For the 10 years they had her, Chula, a Spanish Mustange, was a lesson horse, a family 4H horse, and trained in scent detection for search and rescue—a field in which the Larsons specialize.

Safety First in all things!

Safety First in all things!

Everyone needs to pay attention to this. Two local riders have been seriously hurt this week after falls from their horses. Under no circumstance should you ever sit in a saddle without a helmet on. If you ride English, wear a helmet. If you ride Western, WEAR A HELMET. If you're jumping, you should be wearing a helmet. If you run barrels, you should absolutely be wearing a helmet! If you're out on the trails with your friend, both of you should be wearing a helmet! Check your ego and your coolness factor at the door. A cracked helmet could have been your skull. Not everyone comes away from a fall okay. Some people are left paralyzed and worse yet, some people die. Don't take your life for granted by not wearing a helmet.

Pferdeklinik Bargteheide - VETERINARIAN!
INFORMATIONAL POST....
Today again something from the daily clinical routine - the sleeping constipation.
There is a constipation of the esophagus with insufficiently chewed and crushed food. Often owners, especially of older or very young horses and ponies, report that they cut roots, beetroot or apples into pieces or slices so they can be better absorbed and chewed. Unfortunately, the smaller pieces of food result in them being chewed less and swallowed right away. This makes them literally get stuck in the neck. In the endoscopy picture you can see how a piece of beetroot has wedged in the mud. Then there will be typical mud constipation symptoms like salivating, choking and nasal outflow because access to the stomach is clogged. Through antisomatic medication and pushing a nasal probe, we try to promote the ′′ culprit ′′ into the stomach. In many cases this also works, but unfortunately there is also always the case that we no longer get the esophagus free. 😥
